Recommended Song and Movie of the Week

Recommended Song

Sylar-Assume- The recommended song of the week goes out to a new band to me, Sylar. I've been hearing these guys on Sirius XM Octane's accelerators list, and they have turned me into a fan. I plan on getting their latest album "Help!", which features this track and also "Dark Daze", another single from them. They have a unique sound, heavy hitting but also powerful lyrics, you might say Nu metal. This will be their second full length album, and i might even get the first too!

Recommended Movie

Red Eye(2005)- The movie this week goes back over ten years to a thriller sensation. Rachel McAdams is the star of this one, alongside the always creepy Cillian Murphy. It almost starts out as a romantic movie between the two, but things soon go astray for Lisa(Rachel McAdams) when he isn't what he appears. They board a plane together, and Jackson(Cillian Murphy) takes her hostage. It only gets worse from there as the story unfolds to reveal more. You should check this one out.

Most Anticipated Video Games

I’m not usually a huge video game fanatic. I mean I’ve always played games since I can remember, but never like some people. There were just only a handful of games that peaked my interest over time. A lot of times something will sound really good, but then I just get bored of it really fast. But surprisingly there are actually nine new titles coming out soon that I’m really looking forward to! Keep in mind these are ones I personally am looking forward to, they probably aren’t as popular of an opinion. You won’t find Call of Duty or Madden on my list, but take a look anyway.
Note; Release dates are most likely subject to change on many of these

9. Batman: Return to Arkham
Release Date-10/18/16
Although these technically aren’t a new games, I’m still looking forward to their PS4 release. If you’ve never played the Batman games you are really missing out. They are some of the best games I’ve ever played. Not only do you get to kick butt as Batman but you also get to do some detective work and use all of his gadgets. One of my Favorite games for PS4 is the newest one Batman: Arkham Knight. But the first two, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City is where it all began, and I’d like to purchase them for my PS4.(The date at the end of the trailer is wrong)

8. Agony
Release Date-2017
This is a new title set to release in 2017. I actually just found out about this one. The premise is you are a lost soul trapped in Hell, and you have to find a way out basically. It’s definitely a horror genre game, and looks to be super creepy. I’m not sure what to think of it just yet. But it has my interest. The trailer boasts to be the scariest game ever, but eh I’m not so sure, take a look for yourself.

7. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter
Release Date-12/31/16
Ah one of my favorite games as a child growing up is coming onto the new consoles; Kingdom Hearts. I use to love the first two for PlayStation 2. But then they really confused everybody by making so many sequels, prequels, and spin off games on all sorts of gaming devices like Nintendo DS and PSP. But not for the main console, so honestly this would be higher on my list but I’m confused exactly where in story these ones fall. I have read it takes place before Kingdom Hearts 3, and that's one release I’m super pumped for! This one is actually two former games being re- released onto the PS4, Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. If you don’t know Kingdom Hearts, it is a series that combines the Final Fantasy games with classic Disney movies and characters. You travel from world to world (or movie to movie) as the key blade master saving them from the baddies, as Donald and Goofy fight side by side with you. It’s a lot of fun!

6. Tekken 7
Release Date-3/31/17
Here we come to a close to one of the greatest fighting games of all time.  They have announced this is the final Tekken to come. I have literally been playing the Tekken series since PS1, and since before I even started school. It’s awesome they have kept going with it. I would have the entire series still if I never had a house fire, years ago. I’m looking forward to the final installment, and I can’t wait to play with my favorite character; Hwoarang.

5. God of War
Release Date- 12/26/17
You read that right! God of War is making a return, and this time I’ll be getting it on the PS4. I’m slightly confused because the last one; Ascension was a prequel. But the third God of War game, didn’t Kratos literally end everything basically? The description to this one says Kratos is living with his son, after all of the feuds he has had with the gods, and he has moved into Norse mythology lands. This means new gods, new monsters, and new threats though! Every God of War game has delivered so far for me, always great game play, and fun ways to kill your enemies.

4. Spider-Man
Release Date-12/26/17
Finally a new Marvel game that isn’t Legos! I have been disappointed with Marvel’s games as of late, since we’ve hardly gotten any. I remember playing the fun Spider-man games growing up, the Ultimate Alliance games, and the Marvel Nemesis game. But lately they haven’t been putting as much work into their games as they have their movies. But this one should prove to be awesome. A new Spider-man game coming to PS4, with the same capabilities as the old ones. You can swing around the city and as you can see in the trailer the graphics will be top notch. It's a good idea to come out with this game the same year the movie will be hitting theaters. Coincidence? I think not.

3. Friday The 13th
Release Date- October 2016
I am a big fan of Jason Voorhees, so I am really anticipating this one. You can either play with Jason or as a camp counselor, obviously I’d much rather be Jason and do the killing. But my biggest concern is after walking the maps and killing people for so long, will it get boring to quick? I mean I’m not quite sure how much of a storyline we are getting. I have seen different versions of Jason, just like he is in the films. He changes over time, but either way I’m still ready to dawn the hockey mask myself and become Jason!
2. WWE 2K17
Release Date- 10/11/16
The only game on the list I can confidently say the release date is 100% correct.  I know this because I have it on pre-order, and with that I get Bill Goldberg! You can also pre-order the NXT package and get a few extra NXT stars. But that one’s like $100, and way too much for me to spend on a game. That’s one thing I can’t stand about any games now, is after you already blow $60 on the game, you need to spend extra money for any additional downloads. What happened to doing challenges to unlock stuff? You now have to have some money in order to be a gamer. Any who although I think it will stink that this game will already be outdated, because we have brand splits now and new belts in real life, and that won’t be on the game, I still think it’ll be fun. I have gotten the new WWE game every year for the past like 15 or 16 years. Except for 2014, I missed that year brand new. But every year it’s a new experience.

       1. Injustice 2
Release Date-2017
My most anticipated game has to be the much anticipated Injustice 2. I surprised myself by really loving the first one. I loved how it was a fighting game, but it also had a great story line to it. Plus it switched between different characters, and you weren’t stuck with the same one the whole story line. I also love how each character had a unique fighting style, some easier to play with than others. I can’t wait for the new one because there’s going to be new characters, like Gorilla Grodd! I can say one thing for DC, although they have movie troubles, they make some amazing games.

Well you've seen my list, what games are you excited about!? Anything on this list you too are looking forward to?

Recommended Song and Movie of the Week

Recommended Song of The Week

"Take Me Down"- The Pretty Reckless- This week The Pretty Reckless takes the spot with their new single "Take Me Down". I became a big fan of these guys last year, and started collecting their music. Who knew Cindy Lou Who(Taylor Momsen) from the Grinch was going to grow up to be in a bad-ass rock band. This song is a little softer than a lot of their music, but they make it work. The new album "Who You Selling For" will be released on October 21st, 2016. I for one have it on my wishlist.  There aren't to many hard rock bands with female lead singers, but these guys definitely are one of them and have some amazing music as a result.

Recommended Movie Of The Week

"The Collector"(2009)- The movie this week is an underrated horror film in my opinion known as "The Collector". It starts off with a thief working for a rich family, who he intends to rob that night. But things don't go as planned when the sadistic man known as the Collector gets into the house before he can escape and sets all of his insane traps. The thief gets trapped inside as well as the family, getting picked off one by one. I won't lie and say it isn't an extremely far fetched movie, but how many movies aren't? It' s nice little horror flick of the 21st century, the sequel "The Collection" is equally great as well.

The Untold Story

This is a tale my friends that nobody in the world knows, except one person and that is my girlfriend. I’ve told not a single soul (mostly out of embarrassment and humiliation) but I am willing to reveal all, because eh what have I got to lose? A tale so dark and scary that not even I like it, mostly because it involves me and it’s true. Let me take you back to over two years ago….

It was May of 2014; I lived in a studio apartment alone in Dryden NY, above a café. Well that’s not true, my cat Dexter lived with me, but just us. I worked at a crappy cleaning job I hated; largely because of the people I worked there with. I spent most of my days alone and I worked nights at that dreadful place with very few I got along with. It was a Saturday early morning and I worked until about 3 A.M. When I got out of work I walked to my car in the empty parking lot. It was dark and foggy out; I could barely make out my car. I started to feel eyes on me. I crept slowly to my car still all the same. Walking at a faster pace now, I swear I heard footsteps behind me. I kept going faster and faster, (geez how big is this parking lot? BIG) I finally made it my car, I fumbled for  my keys in my pocket, I couldn’t get them out, I was shaking with nervousness. I finally pulled them out, but the footsteps were right upon me. It was so foggy I could barely see anything; I finally found the right key and stuck it in the key hole to turn it before behind me a menacing figure stood shrouded by the darkness, I could make out nothing but its huge size. He raised his hand up at me, the huge shadowy figure; I put my hands up in terror and awaited my certain death. But then it said “Hey man you forgot your lunchbox”, and I opened my eyes to see my coworker standing there handing me my lunchbox. I wiped the sweat from my brow “Man, I thought you were a killer or something” I said with relief. He chuckled but suddenly his head was sliced clean off from his body. His blood splattering everywhere I screamed in terror.…OK, OK, OK.. None of that really happened, but would have been cool right? It was all true up until 3 A.M. Let me restart.

It in fact was 3 A.M., on a Saturday morning and I had just gotten out of my crappy job. I went home for all of about 2 hours. But that morning my brother and a cousin of mine wanted to go fishing. So I basically just took a shower and dozed for like 30 minutes. The drive ahead of me was a good 45 minutes at least. So I said goodbye to my cat Dexter and was on my way. Of course it was all for nothing because we had boat issues and couldn’t go out any way, at least I’m pretty sure this was that day. (It’s really not all that relevant) but I remember my cousin and me hanging out that day still. Later on in the day my cousin and my immediate family and I went to some pizza Italian place for I want to say a surprise anniversary party for my grandparents if I remember correctly. Keep in mind at this point I’m about at 26 hours with no sleep. My head was not on straight that day (yes I’m using my lack of sleep as an excuse for my actions on this day). So we eat some good food, and everybody goes home except I go back to my parent’s house to get my car. I had spoken with the cousin I had been hanging out with about going to see the new movie “Godzilla” that had just hit theaters at the time. I also asked my other cousins who were at the dinner party if they wanted to go. So long story short, we all go to the theater together. I remember having to pee so badly through half the movie it kind of ruined it for me.

At this time in my life, I’d mostly describe myself as pretty pathetic honestly. Well I mean it wasn’t my entire fault, I worked nights and no friends lived around me. So going out to meet girls wasn’t really something that was just easy to do. I was on an app to meet people near me (nothing gross, it was kind of like Facebook really). When I say “on” I mean I had a profile and stuff, this one girl had messaged me a few days ago. She was kind of bland, and I mean personality wise, she wasn’t that talkative. But nothing about her screamed “GO AWAY!” either, so during the movie, this girl messages me and she’s like “Do You want to meet up later?”, out of the blue really. I tell my cousin about it, and he’s like yeah go for it. I don’t remember what he actually said, but to this day I will always regret not taking this next advice from him. He tells me to give him the address, so at least one person will know where I’m at. Literally the smartest thing he’s ever said to me (No I’m not calling you dumb buddy) but for real, WHY DIDN’T I FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THAT!? It’s probably around 9 P.M. now when the movie ends; remember I’m on about 33 hours of zero sleep. I am kind of dead, but I had a lot of Mountain Dew that day, so I also felt I was fine.  For whatever reason I forgot after the movie was over to tell him the address that was given to me. Now I’m already about an hour away from home, maybe a little bit more. Driving that distance at night with that little of sleep was already a bad decision on my end, and it wouldn’t be my first for the night.

The movie ends and all my cousins go home or wherever they went, but I was back on my own needless to say. I make the really stupid choice of going to meet this girl at the location of her choosing (which was her home). Not only did the lack of sleep make it a stupid choice, the fact I knew nothing about her, or even the fact NO ONE IN THE WORLD KNEW WHERE I WAS. But also it was like an extra thirty or forty minutes from where I was, and from home. First I stopped at a Wal-Mart nearby and bought two energy shots (Yes you were right, my decisions could get even stupider). I took one, and honestly I hate those things, they make me feel twitchy and make my heart race. But I was worried about falling asleep at the wheel (Yeah I know, THAT’S all you’re worried about moron?). I follow the address given to me, rocking out to my jams, thinking I’m so cool, going to meet some chick on a Saturday night. I don’t even need sleep, screw sleep, I’m invincible! I thought my car was badass, I thought I was badass. OK my car was still pretty cool. But anyway I keep going and I keep getting further into the woods (I know RED flag idiot). I kept traveling further and further and honestly my invincibility factor was starting to fade and my inner coward was starting to show. Its pitch black outside now, around 10 P.M. and I’ve lost cell service (TURN AROUND!). I didn’t turn around, my piece of shit brain pushed me further into this insane situation. I even remember my radio signals were fading in and out in my car, and then some creepy back western 1950s song came on singing about killing people or something, ( AHHHH!!) OK that didn’t happen thank god, but the stations were going in and out.

Here comes one of the absolute worst experiences I have ever brought upon myself though. We get on the phone with each other and I’m on a road in the middle of two fields, I stop in the center of the road. There’s an old broken down fence to one side and a giant creepy barn just up ahead on the left. I’m actually quite scared on the one hand, but on the other I grew up in territory like this, so for some UNKNOWN reason I gave it the benefit of the doubt. I listened to her guide me where to go, because I just missed her place. I look in my rear view mirror and she’s on the phone asking me if I see a flashlight behind me, and I did. I turn around and follow this light, like an idiot to the flame (something like that right?). I drive my car to it and she’s on a four wheeler with a hoodie on, I really can’t make anything out about her. But like a (F******) dumb-ass, I pull into this place, now right off the bat I can tell you it wasn’t even a driveway, it was a damn path! A PATH! Why would I do this, seriously, I hate myself just writing this and taking myself back to this day. It was a grass path off a dirt road, in the middle of nowhere. I pull through, and what’s worse you can’t even see the road behind the trees blocking it. So I pull in and I’m starting to think dude just turn around and leave (You’re just thinking that now?). I get out of my car and the house is kind of broken down, and majorly creepy. There are no lights on and she walks up to me and she looks absolutely nothing like her profile pic from that site. I’m not a body shamer but really why lie? She was well over the weight she appeared to be in the picture, and when she took down her hood, no joke one of her eyes was like cock eyed. I somehow ended up in the backwoods of the “Hills Have Eyes” movie. You might be thinking well you’re a dick judging her for her looks so much, which for starters if she hadn’t lied in her pictures, I wouldn’t have been mean (in my head). It’s not like if I passed her in the store I’d point and laugh at her. But we meet for the first time, and honestly for this weird situation I put myself in, she was just kind of shy but was being nice. Remember I’m on about 34 hours now with now no sleep, if I hadn’t taken the energy shot, who knows what would’ve happened. But I have a problem saying no to people, meaning I really wanted to get in my car and drive away, but I felt obligated to follow her in that house (takes huge gulp).

I follow her and let me tell you never in my entire life, have I been so afraid. Seriously, I walk straight into a live action horror movie. My heart falls into my feet, I feel like I turned more pale white than I usually am. She leads the way and in the first room is the living room and there are literally like a 100 dead animals mounted on the walls! There are two dogs who are nonstop barking at me from the other side of the room. The lights are still all turned off; the only light in the room is from the TV that’s on, the glow giving way to the rest of the room. The Kitchen is connected and it’s absolutely disgusting, the counters are covered in garbage and dirty dishes. I’m freaking out now, this place was horrifying. Not that an animal mount is scary, but try like a 100 of every species! I swear there was a human on that wall. But I follow her to her room, and just when you thought it couldn’t get scarier, there were porcelain dolls covering a whole half of her bedroom!( I couldn’t make this up if I wanted!). What was even scarier she had no TV in there! Oh wait I left that part out earlier, we had discussed that we were going to watch a movie, and now I’m thinking OK I am only here to die. This is the end of me. The worst part is that nobody on the planet knew where I was. From somebody who wants to own a haunt for a living, has seen tons of horror movies and rarely gets scared by them, I can tell you I know what true fear is now.

We get in there, she sits on her bed, and I honestly don’t know what to do. If the fear on my face isn’t present, I must be a great actor. She tells me to sit down on the bed too; I cautiously lay like a half butt cheek on the end of the bed, pretty much as far from her as I can be. We talk about stuff for a few minutes, honestly couldn’t tell you what, because all I was waiting for was a giant man in a pig mask to bust through the wall and take me away. At this point I have settled on that I am going to die here, I have killed myself by putting myself in this situation, and was thinking of any possible way out. I ask where the bathroom is and she tells me. I get in there and of course it’s as disgusting as the rest of the house. There are like creepy dolls in the tub, now I am not an overly religious man. But I was praying my ass off to god at that moment. I stared at myself in the mirror, no sleep for so long, bags under my eyes. All I was thinking is I’m never going to see my cat again, my family, I’m going to be eaten, or buried alive out in the middle of nowhere, all due to my own negligence. Finally I came to the decision I need to get out of here (FINALLY!?). I bravely walk back to her room and we talk for a few more minutes about bullshit. I finally say out of nowhere, I have had like over 34 hours no sleep (hey not even a lie) and I had a decent length trip home, and that I really should be going. She seemed surprised, and I was just waiting for her to say “NO!” and then for evil cannibals to grab me and shove me in the fridge. But she walked me back to my car. I was silently saying to myself “Please don’t let my tires be slashed, please don’t my tires be slashed, please don’t let my tires be slashed”. We get back outside and I know I’m just quivering in fear, the woods so dark and isolated. I say goodbye and I was even nice enough to say we might chill sometime, in public (NEVER, NEVER, NEVER). We say bye and I jump in my car and turn around, still expecting this to be a ploy, and some evil farmers to stop me before I can leave. That just maybe she was a nice one, but the rest found out I was going and were going to make sure that wasn’t happening. I pull out of the driveway though, and I’m on my way. OH MY GOD the relief I felt was never more amazing. I screamed out in glory! I took the other energy shot, and cranked my music. I set my GPS for home, and I yelled out to Dexter I was on my way!

I didn’t know how to feel about this whole story. Honestly it was humiliating, and I felt it made me look pathetic(it probably does). I kept it to myself; I didn’t tell a single soul that is until two weeks later when I met my awesome girlfriend. Obviously it wasn’t a first date story, but after a few weeks went by, I told her. I felt comfortable, and she didn’t judge (yes she did). It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget, even though I wish I could. It made me realize just how much we shouldn’t take for granted, keep in mind; this was a really low point in my life, one of the lowest, I mean that whole year leading up to this. But something like that will change your mind. I Know you’re probably like that ending is a little anti-climactic. But because it was me, I’m glad! I never spoke to that girl again after that and she never reached out to me again either. You might be like Oh C’mon it’s not that bad, but if you were there, so alone in that hell hole, I don’t care how manly you think you are. You would’ve been afraid. The message of this blog is only meet strangers in public places! I wonder if after I left she was thinking “Wow what a weirdo”, oh the irony!

Recommended Song And Movie of The Week

 Recommended Song Of The Week

Hate Me- Escape The Fate - The recommended song of the week goes out to one of my absolute favorite bands.I got to see these guys live a few years ago at Uproar festival, and they rocked. Even gave out free posters and autographed them. We have one on our wall. Anyway this song is from their latest album, with the same name, "Hate Me". I love this album(although I love all of their albums), but I feel it hasn't gotten the props it deserves. It's definitely worth checking out. Take a listen.

Recommended Movie Of The Week

Dark Skies(2013)-  The recommended movie this week is a sci-fi thriller known as "Dark Skies". When I first grabbed this movie for five or seven bucks at Walmart I thought it'd probably just be a time killer. But my girlfriend and I were both pleasantly surprised how awesome this movie is. It isn't your typical alien invasion movie. The movie centers around a normal suburban family, who is plagued by what appears to be a supernatural occurrence each night. As they delve deeper into what's happening to the family, the more strange things keep happening. I love how you don't see much of the aliens at all, it gives it a very "Twilight Zone" feel to it. Where it's mostly playing a mental game with the audience. I recommend this movie for pretty much anyone, sci-fi fans, horror fans, thriller fans, it pleases all!

Respecting The Next Generation

Before I get started with this one, I just want to put out there, this isn’t meant to bash anyone I know or call anyone out. It’s just my personal opinion. The other day I had my two younger cousins up to my place, one is 11 and one is 14. Not little kids, but let’s face it until you’re 18 at least, you are a child. These guys are awesome, and I like hanging out with them. Their mom busts her ass for them and I know she’s a great mom, so this has nothing to do with her. But I realized later when I dropped them off to our grandmas the next day, she said a few times she was shocked when I said they were really good. They didn’t fight or anything and we had a lot of fun. Well this got me thinking for the past few days, what the reason for this is. Honestly I believe it boils down to a certain level of respect between them and myself. Now I realize for different people kids can act differently, especially their parents or grandparents. However I just feel when they come up here, I don’t really treat them like kids, I just hang out with them, listen to them, have fun. They don’t fight much and they seem to be having a good time as far as I know. I rarely boss them around, but if I did ask something of them, they would do it.

Now this is coming from someone who doesn’t have kids, nor doesn’t want them. So you can take my ideals with a grain of a salt if you want. But I just feel sometimes I see these people who have kids, and who don’t respect them. What I mean by that is kids have thoughts, they have likes and dislikes, and they have personalities. They are people, just not full grown yet. To give them your time of day, your attention, means a lot to them. I realize my cousins I spoke of aren’t small children but I still believe it applies. My 11 year old cousin is hilarious, this kids witty comebacks and comments he makes, astonish me sometimes. I was never that smart at his age. To not give him some time to chill with is a mistake. We always have fun messing with each other. I actually inspired him to write his own blog, and it’s pretty good! ( colton222.wordpress.com). With my 14 year old cousin I completely understand being 14. I remember hating that time of my life at that age, and hating school. If she wants to hang out to get away from it all, I totally understand. Plus I got her into professional wrestling and that automatically makes it fun to hang out even more. She’s also very easy to scare, if you throw on a good horror movie, actually they both are a couple of scaredy cats, and if you know me, it’s kinda what I love to do (scare people, haunter, hello?).

Maybe for me personally sometimes it’s easier to connect to kids over adults because I like what they like still, I am essentially a big kid. I love cartoons, talking about random stuff that doesn’t matter, and not acting like an adult most of the time. In fact just a few weeks ago, my sister had a birthday party for her oldest kid that turned four. My whole family was in a conversation about some “adult” stuff, I don’t even remember now. But I found it much more interesting to play Legos with him. My girlfriend also has three little cousins who are one, five, and nine that we hang out with frequently. These kids are also hilarious; it’s worth hanging out with them just to have them make you laugh. The stuff they come up with cracks me up. The other day their mom shared on Facebook that the five year old was watching the new “Jungle Book” movie, the real one, and he asked “Why is the boy in his underwear? Should I be watching this?” I wasn’t even there for this one, but it still cracks me up just thinking of him saying this. They love playing video games with me; in fact one Saturday they were up I played video games with them literally all day, not my girlfriend’s cup of tea. But hey I thought it was fun. I guess maybe that’s what’s cool with hanging out with most kids, is that they put you on this pedestal. They think you are the coolest person, and if you’re me, you really aren’t that cool. When you have boring jobs, you aren’t rich, and honestly just aren’t that successful all around (at least not yet), but yet this little person is like I want to spend all day with you because you’re awesome. It’s a good feeling, at least to me. Maybe it resonates with me because a lot of times in my adult life I still feel a lot of people don’t listen to me. Or don’t really care about what I have to say, or what I’m into. I can’t blame people for not being into the same stuff as me, but if I can show interest in what a child is into and make them feel important, well I will. I also am not a normal 23 year old; to me a fun Saturday night is staying in with people I like, ordering a pizza, and playing video games all night. I’d rather hang out with my little cousins than at a bar filled with dumbasses.

I feel a big part of this is where ones self-esteem starts, and it’s either going to go up or down. From someone who doesn’t have high self-esteem, you should really take this into consideration. I remember when I was a kid an uncle of mine had good friends in a couple that lived out in Ohio, and we took a trip out there. Actually we did a few times. But this one time when I was like ten years old, we were all around the dinner table, food was being set out. So like a normal kid who was starving after a long day of the zoo or whatever we did, I started eating, I specifically remember it was a burger and I was like half way through it. Then suddenly to my left the father of the family in a loud yelling voice said “ARE YOU EATING!?” and it scared the crap out of me and I dropped the burger to my plate. The wife was calming him down, because in THEIR household they said prayer before eating. I was like TEN YEARS OLD, what the hell is wrong with this guy; seriously to this day I am angry about this. Who yells at a child in their home who isn’t from a home where they do that? It wasn’t like beforehand they said “Could you all please wait until we say our prayers”. We never have done that in my family, that’s great they do, but really to this day I still feel like because of this experience, it’s one of the reasons why I hate having family-like dinners at other people’s houses. Anyway the point to this story is there was no respect there. Yes I was a kid, but seriously shit like that is uncalled for. I want to invite this guy to my home now that I’m an adult and have my girlfriend whip up her amazing burgers, and set them right in front of him, and right when he’s about to eat yell “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? In this house the guest watches us eat first” (True story too).

Anyway I totally understand kids can be annoying, and they do need to be disciplined at times. They need to be taught right from wrong. But what’s wrong with giving them your attention every now and then, I’m not perfect I do it too. I know if my siblings are reading this they are probably thinking well you haven’t paid much attention to your nieces and nephew, and that’s probably true except to me there’s a difference between kids and babies. Their kids are now starting to get to the point where it isn’t awkward for me to hang out with them. Babies I just feel weird around though, they’re like these tiny squishy aliens. My youngest niece is one years old now, and I feel now we can start to get to know each other a little better because she’s walking around and sort of speaking. The other two now are talking a lot more and it’s definitely less awkward and more fun to hang out with them. Actually just a little bit ago, my brother texted me saying he was listening to Disney songs in the car with his daughter, and “Be Prepared” came on (Ya know Scar from the Lion King) and he said it’s my song to her (He’s my favorite Disney villain…yes I have a favorite OK) and she said “No uncle Nate’s not scary”. This means she clearly doesn’t know me well enough yet (just kidding, but for real haunter? Hello again?). But it was funny to hear because to kids that don’t know me, I probably am creepy, well and adults, but not to her! (I have resting hate-face alright….fine you can call it resting bitch face, but I’m sticking with hate-face).

I guess after this rambled mess I just spewed, all I am saying is why have kids if you really aren’t ready? No I don’t just mean financially, but mentally. If you can’t handle hanging out with them, listening to them, then you aren’t ready. The whole mentality of the old days, where kids shouldn’t have a say or voice, in which they should just should stand quietly or go away while the adults speak, is ridiculous. Sometimes the power trip I see adults get on with their kids or any kids is disgusting. Seriously show some respect, one day they are going to grow up and do you really want to be the one that messed them up? That person they look back on and are still upset about, the one who didn’t spend enough time with them, or who yelled at them at the dinner table for NO REASON. Think back to your childhood, I’m sure there’s at least one adult you don’t want to be remembered as. People are annoying these days that just keep popping them out without thinking about any of this. Kids aren’t an accessory item; they aren’t something you just have to have like it’s a job, like society loves to shove down our throats (Yes I realize accidents happen) but put some real thought into it….please.

Recommended Song and Movie of the Week!

This week the recommended song goes out to an up and coming band called Shallow Side. This is their single from a few years ago "Stand Up". I got the pleasure of first seeing these guys live with my girlfriend a few years ago, opening for a Trapt show. We both fell in love with their music, i guarantee you will see more of these guys as time goes on. Hopefully you like them as much I do! The Recommended movie of the week is an awesome animated film called "Rise Of The Guardians". You May have heard of it, but not seen it. Don't trust the negative reviews, this movie is beautifully done and has a great voice acting cast in Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman, and Alec Baldwin. It mostly centers around Jack Frost who is trying to figure out what he is and his sense of purpose, meanwhile the evil Boogeyman is slowly making children not believe in the legendary Guardians. It culminates between a big fight between them and him. There's something about this movie that just makes you feel like a kid again, that feeling you use to get on Christmas morning, or Easter when you woke up and believed the Easter Bunny had actually come. If you haven't seen it, you should really check it out.

16 Cover Songs That Really Rock!

Ever listen to a song, and think “Wow this is pretty good” but then realize it’s from Taylor Swift, and to not seem like a wuss you immediately change the station. Well I have a solution for you; here are 16 songs that have been redone by badass rock bands, lyrically still great, but musically redone to rock your face off. Enjoy! :)

16- I Don’t Care Anymore- HellYeah -This one’s actually pretty new, and honestly just a cover of an old slow rock song by Phil Collins. But it still made the list because it’s a pretty rockin jam.

15- Faith- Limp Bizkit- Redoing George Michael’s song, “Faith”, this song really flip flops between a straight remake and a screaming rocking song. But they make it work.

14- Toxic- Local H -No “man” can listen to Brittany Spears and seem masculine, well Local H has made your Brittany song cool again.
13- Tainted Love- Marilyn Manson- This is one of those songs where after you hear it, it is suddenly much better than the original. Manson is a master of remakes.

12- Smooth Criminal- Alien Ant Farm -Although Michael Jackson’s original version is still awesome, this song really rocks, honestly you probably already knew this one. But it’s too good to not be here!

11- Hello- leo moracchioli- This one is also pretty new as well, covering Adele’s huge hit from this past year. This one has some mixed reactions, but I enjoy it more than hers!

10- Poker Face- Of Mice and Men- You be the judge of this one, and listen for yourself.

9- Disturbia- The Cab- I won’t lie, I actually like Rihanna’s version too. But this is a perfect song for a hard rock band to cover.

8- Further seems forever- bye bye bye- We all know we have a guilty pleasure for an NSYNC song every now and again, but these guys turn this into a punk classic.

7- Umbrella- The Veer union- I’ve liked these guys since their beginning, and this song proves why.
6- Sweet dreams- Marilyn Manson- Well like I said Manson is a king of covers, so he made the list twice!

5- Gangsters Paradise- Falling In Reverse- Yet again another track, where I love it so much more than the original. Like A Storm also has a version of this you should check out.

4-Blank space- I prevail- Remember that Taylor Swift reference in the beginning? Well here is why!
3- Our last night- stressed out- Even though the original is pretty good by Twenty One Pilots, this version is so much better.

2- Lollipop- Framing Hanley- As a big fan of Framing Hanley, this had to be near the top. Besides they turned one of the lamest rap songs into a super awesome rock song.

1-Since U Been Gone- A Day To Remember- I had to make this number one, because honestly it’s the oldest one I can remember first hearing. I loved it, it made me seek out the rest of the list of cover tracks over the years, pretty much!

Top 14 Most Anticipated Shows for Fall 2016!

Well the best time of the year is upon us in autumn. Not only does the weather get beautiful, we get to have some Halloween fun, and start to pig out on sweets. But we also get a great new fall lineup of new TV shows spread across the networks. I’ve counted down the top 14 TV shows in my opinion set to air in the next two months! Check it out.

14- Last Man Standing Season Six- Last we left off on Last Man Standing on season five, Mandy and Kyle had decided to get married and move in with Mike and Vanessa. There wasn’t too much of a cliffhanger, but this show always provides some laughs. Also how can you not love Tim Allen? Plus the Home Improvement references are always fun, and with Kyle moving in, does that mean we get to see more of one of the funniest guys on the show!?
Release date-Friday September 23rd on ABC

13-Taken Season One- Coming as a prequel to the Taken franchise starring Liam Neeson, this is supposed to show how Bryan Mills, who will now be played by Clive Standen, became the badass we know him as. This sounds interesting to me, as a fan of the first “Taken” movie, but it could also be lame, we will find out!
Release date-Fall 2016 on NBC

12- Man With A Plan Season One- I just recently found out about this show, and I’ve always been a sitcom guy, so I got excited. But not just that, it’s JOEY! The “Man with a Plan” show will in fact star Matt Leblanc as a man named Adam who’s a contractor. He decides to spend more time with his kids, after his wife goes back to work, but all I see is Joey Tribbiani, a decade later in life. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
Release Date- Monday Oct. 24th on CBS

11- Agents Of Shield Season Four - I’m actually surprised in myself that this made my list, but season 3 was pretty good. “Agents of Shield” was always something I watched out of obligation because it connects to the rest of the MCU. But I binged watched season 3 on Netflix recently and it kept my interest. Now wondering how this is going to play out with Daisy being some kind of vigilante, and her powers becoming pretty cool. I am looking forward to this one for once.
Release date- Tuesday September 20th on ABC

10-Arrow Season Five- “Arrow” has been on a slippery slope with me since season 3. Last season was slightly better than the third, but still not season one or two good. I can only hope the fifth season picks up the pace again. With the team dismantled except Oliver and Felicity, one has to wonder what threat is going to cause them to reunite, also I wonder if the Flash changing the timeline is going to affect them at all as well. Hopefully Oliver being the new mayor doesn’t make the show to boring, or political.
Release date- Wednesday October 5th on CW

9-DC’s Legends Of tomorrow Season Two- Although it has some mixed reviews, I have really enjoyed season one of “Legends of Tomorrow”. At first it was a jumble of characters, but they really have done a good job of developing them. Obviously we already knew the majority of them through “The Flash” and “Arrow” shows but we really got to know them here, and see them shine. I especially loved seeing Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, teaming back up since “Prison Break”. Not quite the good guys but not the villains either. At the end of season one the team is all over the place, but a handful of them reunite and then someone from the Justice Society of America shows up and tells them if they get on their ship, they’re all dead. This will be an awesome start of the second season. But I hope Captain Cold returns too!
Release date- Thursday October 13th on CW

8-Supernatural Season Twelve- Well going into the 12th season of “Supernatural” can be no easy task for the makers of this show, but I’m still with them. As much as I love Sam and Dean Winchester, and Castiel, I sometimes wonder if it’d be better to put this bad boy of a show to rest. Despite that, I’m still looking forward to see what else they can possibly offer, after they basically conquered the biggest monster of them all in the Darkness. I wasn’t a fan of how that story arc ended with her and god riding off in the sunset together, literally, but I guess it was to show even these guys couldn’t stop her power. But with Dean now reunited with his mom since 1983, and Sam being shot by a woman who claims to be a part of the London branch of the Man of Letters, we shall see where this goes. I’m just personally hoping to see Lucifer again!
Release date- Thursday October 13th on CW

7-American Horror Story Season Six- Although I haven’t seen season five yet, this show has delivered basically every season so far. My favorite was season was season four, the freak show. But this year the creators aren’t releasing any information on the new season. All we have to go off is a few fifteen second teaser clips. I personally can’t connect the pieces and see what they’re going for. But I have faith they’ll make it awesome and I’m excited for it.
Release date- Wednesday September 14th on FX

6-Gotham Season Three- Coming off from an awesome season two, Gotham is really starting to heat up. We left off with so much craziness; it’s hard to recap it in a few sentences. Basically Gordon has his work cut out for him, all of these creepy monsters created by Hugo Strange being released into the streets, and one of them looks like Bruce Wayne? Fish Mooney is back and I can’t wait to see her go after the Penguin. Plus you have The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and Firefly just to name a few more villains who haven’t gone away yet. I do wish people would stop asking for Batman though; this show is the rise of Gordon to commissioner, and the story of Batman’s villains before they met him. We don’t need him, at least not until the end. Oh and if you didn’t know Poison Ivy is full grown in this new season, so that’ll be interesting too!
Release date- Monday September 19th on Fox

5-Kevin Can Wait Season One- As a huge fan of the “King of Queens” show, I am super excited to see Kevin James is back for his new show “Kevin Can Wait”. This shows looks hilarious, as a retired cop, Kevin is about to have some free time on his hands. But it looks like his daughter is home from college with a new boyfriend that he doesn’t approve of, and they are about to move in. Kevin looks like he is basically playing Kevin, just himself like he was as Doug Heffernan, and he is funny as always. Just the trailer has me laughing!
Release date- Monday September 19th on CBS

4-The Exorcist Season One- Based on the classic terrifying movie “The Exorcist”, this show looks fantastically creepy. We don’t have too many horror based TV shows these days, other than “American Horror Story”, this could be the next big scary thing to hit TV on a weekly basis. I just hope the show lives up to the trailer and hype.
Release date- Friday September 23rd on Fox

3-Marvel’s Luke Cage Season One- Finally in September we get the next Marvel TV show, and third member of the Defenders, in Luke Cage. We have previously been introduced to him in “Jessica Jones”, and I really am digging Mike Colter as Luke. He looks the part, and plays him well. My biggest concern is that in “Jessica Jones” the fighting scenes were really sub-par compared to the likes of Daredevils. It was mostly just Jessica and him throwing people around. But we shall see, regardless of the fighting, let’s hope there is a great story and plot to the start of the man with unbreakable skin.
Release date- Friday September 30th on Netflix

2-The Flash Season Three- The Flash got really strange last season, but also really awesome. It’s become my favorite DC show out of them all. Barry is a really likeable character, and last we saw him he changed everything we knew, by saving his mother from dying way back when he was child. This is based on the Flashpoint storyline from the comics; this was a great cliffhanger, because now we have to wonder about the fate of all of these awesome characters! I also really hope to see Zoom return at some point as well.
Release date- Tuesday October 4th on CW

1-The Walking Dead Season Seven- There’s no denying the excitement I have for the return of the Walking Dead. The last two seasons I’ll admit I was a little disappointed with the way they have been dragging this out. Something that was awesome about the Walking Dead at first was that every episode packed a punch, and was exciting. But now it kind of feels like they are money hungry. With that said I still have it as my most anticipated show because the cliffhanger of season six is one of the best cliffhangers I have ever seen, anticipating who will die all summer has been rough. I don’t understand the backlash though; it’s a great idea to get us excited, something to look forward to. Who’s going to die at the hands of Negan!? Please don’t let it be Glenn!
Release date- Sunday October 23rd on AMC

Movie of the Week -"The Final"

For the Movie of the Week I am going with a small little
horror film known as "The Final". This movie is pretty awesome, not only
does it send a powerful message for anti-bullying, but its also nice
and creepy the way I like it. It definitely makes you think, and
honestly it's hard not to cheer for the "bad guys" doing the killing in
this one. Check it out.

From Ashes to New - Lost and Alone

Each Week I'd like to do a recommended song of the week, and also a recommended movie of the week. I will try to keep the song newer(not always) but the movie will be from anytime. Since there may be some good older films you don't know about. Just because I post a song I'm liking doesn't mean I know all of their music, it might be just that one song.

For my first song, I have to go with "Lost and
Alone" by From Ashes to New. These guys have been on fire since hitting
the scene. This is one of those songs where I could listen to it over
and over again. Lead singer Chris Musser, has an amazing voice. I have
been getting into them more and more lately. Plus most of us can say
from time to time, we do feel lost and alone.

Suicide Squad Review (Spoilers)

What can I say about Suicide Squad? Well I can say I actually liked it, despite its mixed reviews. I should first say that Batman V Superman didn’t appeal to me all that much. There were parts I really liked, like Ben Affleck’s Batman, but overall I gave it a 6 out of 10 rating. Just putting it out there as this is DC’s third DCEU movie. I believe Suicide Squad is a great idea, a movie about villains. To me a villain is a fascinating character in any movie. I like to see what drives them, and sometimes I completely understand where they’re coming from. Let’s face it in real life; we aren’t all just heroes or villains. We all have a good and bad side, and this is one thing I enjoyed seeing in Suicide Squad. Learning these villain’s stories and seeing how they aren’t just straight up evil beings who want to kill or take over the world for no reason. I thought Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Will Smith as Deadshot stood out the most, probably for obvious reasons because they had the most screen time. But they did fantastic jobs as their characters. Margot’s accent switching up was a little weird, but she’s also a bit of a psycho so it sort of worked too. I liked they got her backstory in there and did it right. The flashbacks to her Joker were also pretty cool. I’ve seen some saying they aren’t supposed to really be in love in real life, and he is supposed to be abusive towards her. Well I personally saw that he was, I mean he fried her brain to begin with, had her jump into a thing of acid, he left her to drown or be captured by batman. I’m sure there are other moments too. I looked at him coming for her, as him going back for his property, as if she belonged to him. As for Deadshot I enjoyed his story being about his daughter, it made sense in the end he went to fight for the world, to save his daughter. I liked the Enchantress as the main villain, I thought she did well at being creepy, and she had a backstory to go off from. I’ll admit I was one of the people worried about Jared Leto taking on the Joker character, but he did alright with the actual acting like the Joker part, I didn’t care for his cheesy tattoos, I mean I love tattoos but not his with the “hahaha’ and the “damaged”. Also it was weird how he was a gangster boss like guy. Killer Croc I thought was badass; I just wish I could have seen more of him.
Ok as for what I didn’t like, the fact right from the get go there are too many characters introduced, honestly to many characters in the whole film. Also the way they introduced them in the beginning was a bit weird, explaining their entire stories one after the other. If you know these characters, maybe it wasn’t a big deal for you, but a lot of people don’t. I understand that is what the Suicide Squad is, a large group of villains, but they could have handled this better. I also think a few of these characters were completely pointless and added no real substance to the film. The three that stand out here are Slipknot, Captain Boomerang, and Katana. Slipknot just dies right away with no real introduction to begin with. Maybe he was supposed to stand for; if you don’t listen they are serious about killing you. Katana also was pointless, not really a villain, but fighting for the good guys. She just felt thrown in there last minute when they were ready to start the mission, and really if she wasn’t in the movie at all, it wouldn’t have made a difference. I feel the same about captain Boomerang; I mean I guess he had a little more influence than the other two; he had a backstory at least. But I think some of this was due to the cuts they made. They never explained why he had some pink unicorn, stuff like that. Which leads me to my next point that it seems DC will be making a habit out of cutting content out of their theatrical release and then releasing extended versions on DVD instead. Supposedly the Batman V Superman extended cut makes up for some its error. I do believe an extra 30 minutes’ worth could make a world of difference, which is why I have purchased it, but have not yet viewed it. I would have liked to see plenty more of the Joker, but again a lot his scenes were cut, I have been hearing up to 10 scenes worth, which also could make a world of difference. Hopefully they don’t keep up with this trend. I believe a movie like this should have been rated R honestly. I think it could have been outstanding if it was. The ending was also a bit over the top; I mean an end of the world scenario I was not expecting. I guess on the flip side it made sense because why else are these guys risking their lives. The majority of them are bad guys after all with few loved ones (I’m assuming). But where was Batman, Flash, and Wonder Woman, it’d seem to me with a situation this big, they would be there. But maybe we will find out later. I just wish other than Deadshot they gave them more of a reason to fight the enchantress at the end, yes at first they had bombs in their necks.  But after that, it was weird that every one of them decided to fight.
One thing I got to say about DCEU films is I think they are heavily comic based. What I mean is I realize Marvel films are far from reality but they seem like they try to make things as realistic as they can to a certain extent. I just feel DC is like well this is what happened in the comics so here ya go, and some of it they don’t explain. I realize they are going to explain over a period of movies, but still. Not that I don’t like their films so far, I just wish they would take their time introducing their characters. There is no rush, they have all the time in the world and after 4 movies they will be doing a Justice League film, which I find a little crazy. But I’ll still go see it. I really want to like DC’s films; they just make it hard at times. But overall, I know it might be an unpopular opinion but I give Suicide Squad an 8 out of 10, despite some of its big flaws. To me there is just something appealing about it, maybe it’s because we are coming straight out of Batman V Superman, maybe I’m too generous with this one. But I consider this movie a guilty pleasure movie, just something I like despite the flaws even I see.
