Well the best time of the year is upon us in autumn. Not only does the weather get beautiful, we get to have some Halloween fun, and start to pig out on sweets. But we also get a great new fall lineup of new TV shows spread across the networks. I’ve counted down the top 14 TV shows in my opinion set to air in the next two months! Check it out.
14- Last Man Standing Season Six- Last we left off on Last Man Standing on season five, Mandy and Kyle had decided to get married and move in with Mike and Vanessa. There wasn’t too much of a cliffhanger, but this show always provides some laughs. Also how can you not love Tim Allen? Plus the Home Improvement references are always fun, and with Kyle moving in, does that mean we get to see more of one of the funniest guys on the show!?
Release date-Friday September 23rd on ABC
13-Taken Season One- Coming as a prequel to the Taken franchise starring Liam Neeson, this is supposed to show how Bryan Mills, who will now be played by Clive Standen, became the badass we know him as. This sounds interesting to me, as a fan of the first “Taken” movie, but it could also be lame, we will find out!
Release date-Fall 2016 on NBC
12- Man With A Plan Season One- I just recently found out about this show, and I’ve always been a sitcom guy, so I got excited. But not just that, it’s JOEY! The “Man with a Plan” show will in fact star Matt Leblanc as a man named Adam who’s a contractor. He decides to spend more time with his kids, after his wife goes back to work, but all I see is Joey Tribbiani, a decade later in life. Check out the trailer and see for yourself.
Release Date- Monday Oct. 24th on CBS
11- Agents Of Shield Season Four - I’m actually surprised in myself that this made my list, but season 3 was pretty good. “Agents of Shield” was always something I watched out of obligation because it connects to the rest of the MCU. But I binged watched season 3 on Netflix recently and it kept my interest. Now wondering how this is going to play out with Daisy being some kind of vigilante, and her powers becoming pretty cool. I am looking forward to this one for once.
Release date- Tuesday September 20th on ABC
10-Arrow Season Five- “Arrow” has been on a slippery slope with me since season 3. Last season was slightly better than the third, but still not season one or two good. I can only hope the fifth season picks up the pace again. With the team dismantled except Oliver and Felicity, one has to wonder what threat is going to cause them to reunite, also I wonder if the Flash changing the timeline is going to affect them at all as well. Hopefully Oliver being the new mayor doesn’t make the show to boring, or political.
Release date- Wednesday October 5th on CW
9-DC’s Legends Of tomorrow Season Two- Although it has some mixed reviews, I have really enjoyed season one of “Legends of Tomorrow”. At first it was a jumble of characters, but they really have done a good job of developing them. Obviously we already knew the majority of them through “The Flash” and “Arrow” shows but we really got to know them here, and see them shine. I especially loved seeing Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold and Dominic Purcell as Heatwave, teaming back up since “Prison Break”. Not quite the good guys but not the villains either. At the end of season one the team is all over the place, but a handful of them reunite and then someone from the Justice Society of America shows up and tells them if they get on their ship, they’re all dead. This will be an awesome start of the second season. But I hope Captain Cold returns too!
Release date- Thursday October 13th on CW
8-Supernatural Season Twelve- Well going into the 12th season of “Supernatural” can be no easy task for the makers of this show, but I’m still with them. As much as I love Sam and Dean Winchester, and Castiel, I sometimes wonder if it’d be better to put this bad boy of a show to rest. Despite that, I’m still looking forward to see what else they can possibly offer, after they basically conquered the biggest monster of them all in the Darkness. I wasn’t a fan of how that story arc ended with her and god riding off in the sunset together, literally, but I guess it was to show even these guys couldn’t stop her power. But with Dean now reunited with his mom since 1983, and Sam being shot by a woman who claims to be a part of the London branch of the Man of Letters, we shall see where this goes. I’m just personally hoping to see Lucifer again!
Release date- Thursday October 13th on CW
7-American Horror Story Season Six- Although I haven’t seen season five yet, this show has delivered basically every season so far. My favorite was season was season four, the freak show. But this year the creators aren’t releasing any information on the new season. All we have to go off is a few fifteen second teaser clips. I personally can’t connect the pieces and see what they’re going for. But I have faith they’ll make it awesome and I’m excited for it.
Release date- Wednesday September 14th on FX
6-Gotham Season Three- Coming off from an awesome season two, Gotham is really starting to heat up. We left off with so much craziness; it’s hard to recap it in a few sentences. Basically Gordon has his work cut out for him, all of these creepy monsters created by Hugo Strange being released into the streets, and one of them looks like Bruce Wayne? Fish Mooney is back and I can’t wait to see her go after the Penguin. Plus you have The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and Firefly just to name a few more villains who haven’t gone away yet. I do wish people would stop asking for Batman though; this show is the rise of Gordon to commissioner, and the story of Batman’s villains before they met him. We don’t need him, at least not until the end. Oh and if you didn’t know Poison Ivy is full grown in this new season, so that’ll be interesting too!
Release date- Monday September 19th on Fox
5-Kevin Can Wait Season One- As a huge fan of the “King of Queens” show, I am super excited to see Kevin James is back for his new show “Kevin Can Wait”. This shows looks hilarious, as a retired cop, Kevin is about to have some free time on his hands. But it looks like his daughter is home from college with a new boyfriend that he doesn’t approve of, and they are about to move in. Kevin looks like he is basically playing Kevin, just himself like he was as Doug Heffernan, and he is funny as always. Just the trailer has me laughing!
Release date- Monday September 19th on CBS
4-The Exorcist Season One- Based on the classic terrifying movie “The Exorcist”, this show looks fantastically creepy. We don’t have too many horror based TV shows these days, other than “American Horror Story”, this could be the next big scary thing to hit TV on a weekly basis. I just hope the show lives up to the trailer and hype.
Release date- Friday September 23rd on Fox
3-Marvel’s Luke Cage Season One- Finally in September we get the next Marvel TV show, and third member of the Defenders, in Luke Cage. We have previously been introduced to him in “Jessica Jones”, and I really am digging Mike Colter as Luke. He looks the part, and plays him well. My biggest concern is that in “Jessica Jones” the fighting scenes were really sub-par compared to the likes of Daredevils. It was mostly just Jessica and him throwing people around. But we shall see, regardless of the fighting, let’s hope there is a great story and plot to the start of the man with unbreakable skin.
Release date- Friday September 30th on Netflix
2-The Flash Season Three- The Flash got really strange last season, but also really awesome. It’s become my favorite DC show out of them all. Barry is a really likeable character, and last we saw him he changed everything we knew, by saving his mother from dying way back when he was child. This is based on the Flashpoint storyline from the comics; this was a great cliffhanger, because now we have to wonder about the fate of all of these awesome characters! I also really hope to see Zoom return at some point as well.
Release date- Tuesday October 4th on CW
1-The Walking Dead Season Seven- There’s no denying the excitement I have for the return of the Walking Dead. The last two seasons I’ll admit I was a little disappointed with the way they have been dragging this out. Something that was awesome about the Walking Dead at first was that every episode packed a punch, and was exciting. But now it kind of feels like they are money hungry. With that said I still have it as my most anticipated show because the cliffhanger of season six is one of the best cliffhangers I have ever seen, anticipating who will die all summer has been rough. I don’t understand the backlash though; it’s a great idea to get us excited, something to look forward to. Who’s going to die at the hands of Negan!? Please don’t let it be Glenn!
Release date- Sunday October 23rd on AMC
