Recommended Movie and ALBUM of the week!

Recommended Album of the Week

You read that right, I thought I'd mix it up and recommend an entire album this week. This past month I've bought several new albums. One of my favorite ones is Gemini Syndrome's new one "Memento Mori". I didn't know who they even were until this past year, but man was I missing out. These guys are great, their lyrics are just simply awesome, each song tells a story. Some of these songs have actually inspired my stories I am working on as well. I loved this album so much, that I went and bought their first one as well for $4 on Amazon. My favorite tracks on the new one are the hit single "Remember we Die", along with "Zealot", "Say Goodnight", and "Gravedigger". Although every song is pretty damn good.  I 100% am confident in recommending this whole album.

Recommended Movie of the Week

The Movie this week is an older action comedy called "National Security". My brother and I use to watch this all the time when we were kids. Steve Zahn and Martin Lawrence are the two leading stars, offering tons of hilarious scenes. The plot starts when police officer Hank's(Steve Zahn) partner is killed by anonymous smuggler's. He goes on a mission to avenge him, but in his way is wanna be cop, Earl( Martin Lawrence). Who ends up getting Hank thrown in jail over a "Beat down", (that didn't actually happen). But after he surrenders his badge and gets out of jail, he becomes a security guard still looking for the smugglers. But it just so happens Earl is also a security guard, by a strange occurrence of events these two must team up to stop the smugglers. This is a great film if you just want a good laugh, and it's also a great film for America right now, with all of the racist tension going on.

Creepy Tales of the Night---The Eyes

Well with the Halloween haunting season upon us, I thought it'd seem fit to do some creepy tales. Let me know what you think, and maybe I'll do a few more.  So turn off the lights, pull out the flashlight and get ready to not sleep tonight.

The clouds were a thick grey mass, ready to burst at the seams. Slowly one by one, rain drops started to fall on the windows of the hospital, tapping as lightly as could be, almost in an apologetic way to the people inside. In room 205, sat a woman crying near a hospital bed, tears rolling down her cheeks, lighter than the rain that fell. The hospital bed contained a figure t
hat was ever dear to her heart, and her mother came into the room and started rubbing her shoulders. “Oh dear, please keep your head up, everything will work out”, her mother said, but with doubt in her old raspy voice. “I just don’t understand how this could happen” said the woman, “It’s just not right”, she turned around and hugged her mother tightly for comfort. They stayed that way for a long time in dead silence, only the small beeping noise of the heart monitor was barely heard.

He opened his crusty eyes, and groaned with the idea of having to get out of bed. It was about four p.m., the sun high in the sky at this point. The world was already awake long ago. But to Max this was a normal work day. He rolled out of bed and stretched his back, it cracking multiple times. He sighed with relief, being a janitor for over twenty years has taken its toll on him. He was in his mid-forties and not the happiest of people at times. He had been in the work of cleaning since he was in his early twenties. His job he has had for the past fifteen years, had him working alone as well. He was one who always had dreams and aspirations, but never quite got to pursue his passions. He was however fortunate enough to marry the woman of his dreams. Her name was Kate, and she had a day job at an office, being a secretary for a doctor’s office. With their conflicting schedules, they really didn’t get to see each other at all during the week, only on the weekends. This was a tough life, but Max saw no way out really, he had no other skills at this point and made decent money to help take care of them both. But maybe it was his lack of ambition these days that held him back.

He spent his afternoons alone, just watching TV or going for a walk every now again, and maybe play a video game once in a while.  A very dull life indeed, and at times it was a very lonely life for Max. He took a nap today and it was about time to hit the road and get to work. Max was slightly overweight; he had some stubble going on, on his face. But figured there was no point in shaving, nobody was going to see him anyway. He had short plain black hair and a big protruding nose in the center of his face. He was nothing that would catch any one’s eyes. Contrary to what TV likes to show us, not all janitors wore full body jumpsuits, with a hand stitched name tag in the chest area. He wore regular clothes, just a plain black shirt and a pair of jeans today. He slowly walked to the door, patted his cat on the head and started to head out. But before he did his wife Kate waltzed through the door with a big smile on her face, and holding a pizza box in her hand. “Hey you’re home early” he said with a smile back. It wasn’t often they met like this on a week day. “I know I wanted to surprise you with a pizza, although I don’t want you to be too late to work”, she said back. “Eh who will know any way?” he said with a grin and grabbed the box from her, and set it down. Pizza after all was his favorite dish. Kate was also in her mid-forties, they had been together since they were both in their twenties. She had blonde hair and a smile as big as the room. They ate some food together, laughing about some work stories she had.  Then as she was talking it was as if time stopped. Her laugh and smile in slow motion, Max staring, as if seeing her for the first time all over again. “What are you looking at?” she said now noticing this, almost blushing a little. “Nothing, I’d just be lost without you” he said. She then grabbed his hand and led him to their bedroom.

Fast forward hours later, Max was at work now. It was late, and was going to be a later night for him. As per his usual shift, it was dark as the night could be. The darkness never bothered him, he was so accustom to it, and it really never fazed him. He did most of his work in a giant office building. He wasn’t even sure what they actually did there. He rarely saw employees, and when he did, it seemed he was invisible to them. He was in high spirits tonight though; it almost seemed he had the perfect day earlier on, which was very rare. He usually barely saw his wife or had good food during the week he thought to himself, as he whistled away wiping down the front doors to the building. The building was three stories high and mostly full of office cubicles, and every inch of it was Max’s responsibility to clean. The building was nestled just outside the town, tucked away in the trees and not visible from the main road. He walked outside in the brisk air, and rubbed his arms for a moment, “Damn cold out here for a summer night” he thought to himself. He started wiping down the outside of the doors and noticed the numbers on the side of the building. “Hm odd” he said out loud to himself confused. “I always remember the numbers saying 321”, as he walked inside brushing off the thought, and the doors slammed shut behind him, and 205 was present on the buildings front wall.

Another hour rolled on, it was reaching that time where the world was silent, and everyone had checked out, and was nestled in their beds, safe with their families. Everyone except Max of course, who was cleaning away. He waltzed up the stairs slowly, his footsteps echoing loudly off of the empty filled staircase. He opened the door to the third floor, and almost fell over in fear, right in front of him were two eyes staring at him form the darkness. He let out a scream, but flipped on the lights right next to him. Only to his relief, it wasn’t eyes at all, but two blinking lights from a computer monitor. He caught his breath, and grinned at himself, “haven’t scared yourself like that in quite some time eh?” he said to himself, chuckling. He finished up the floor, and turned back off the lights and turned around to see eyes staring at him again! He said “Ah not this time” and flipped back on the lights, only to his shock this time the eyes disappeared. His face went pale for a moment, “No”, he said thinking he was scaring himself now, and flipped back off the light, only to see the eyes come back. Now he started to freak out. “WHOS THERE!?” he shouted, barely getting the words out in fear. He went to turn back on the lights, only this time they weren’t working, the eyes steadily on him. Just staring, not moving or blinking. There was no figure to be seen in the shroud of the darkness, just the eyes. One was Green and one was red, they were beady little eyes. He couldn’t even make out pupils or anything else for that matter, but he was also more afraid now than he has ever been in his life. He turned around and shot out of the door, running down the stairs, as fast as one can run down stairs. He got down the first flight, but still had to make the second. He looked up to the third floor door, only to see in the small glass window on the door, the two eyes still on him steadily. He whimpered in fear and started down the second flight, but with his attention on the eyes, he tripped and tumbled down the stairs.

Everything was black and spinning around in circles, as he slowly opened his eyes. He lay at the bottom of the stairs, face down into the carpet. He slowly regained himself to his feet, his right leg in pain and his head pounding. “Must have knocked myself out”, he said holding his head. He stumbled out of the door in front of him, to the second floor. He cautiously peered around looking for what may be lurking, looking for those eyes.  Luckily he had left the second floor lights on. He quivered in fear looking all around, all the same. With or without lights, he was deathly afraid as anyone would be. He noticed however a window was open to the left of him, he was puzzled as he did not remember opening one, or there one being open before. He walked over and peered down to the black top below, and his eyes got as wide as they could go, on the ground lay a person, not moving at all.  He screamed down, “HEY!” the person still not moving. He raced towards the stairs to the first floor, limping a little with the pain in his right leg, and busted out the front doors once he got down there. He ran as fast as he could to the side of the building where the person would be, running out of breath now. He started to once again get confused, he was right under the open window on the second floor, but there was no person. He looked up to check to see if he was in the right place once more, but this time the second floor lights were off and the eyes once again were back staring at him menacingly. He backed away from the spot shaking now, not breaking contact with the eyes. “WHAT DO YOU WANT!?” he shouted up at them. The eyes showing no emotions, just looking on.

Max now started to panic more than ever, he ran his hand across his hair, messing it all up. “Ok fine I’ll just call the cops” he said thinking on his feet. He whipped out his cell phone, only to his displeasure, it was dead. Nothing on the phone would work at all. “FUCK” he shouted and threw the phone across the parking lot. He looked over to his car and said “Fuck I’ll just drive out of here! Duh!”.  But when he searched his pockets for his keys they weren’t there. “They must have fallen out!” he said in anger, starting to run out of options. He looked up the eyes still on him. He looked at the building, the first floor lights were still on, “I can run in, call the cops from a phone inside and run out, I am not staying in that building any longer than I have to”. He had his plan, and he wanted to stick to it. He looked back to the eyes just to make sure they hadn’t moved. He sprinted off directly after into the building, and raced to the first desk he saw; he picked up a phone and dialed 911. But to no avail, because the phone also was dead. “This can’t be happening” he thought to himself. But he hadn’t much more time for thinking as the lights went out on the first floor now. The floor he was on.

He started to sweat profusely, and cowered underneath the desk he was at. He peered around from underneath looking for the eyes. He saw nothing for a few minutes, he thought to himself “OK I just need to make a run for the door and keep on running once I’m out, this is my last chance”. He bolted from underneath the desk, making all sorts of noises. The front doors not too far off, he was close, he turned around to see the eyes on the other side of the room watching him. The discolored eyes never blinking or turning away. “GO AWAY!” he shouted at them and ran straight into the front doors, but the double set of glass doors were locked, so he bounced back onto the floor. He groaned in pain but shot back up, he grabbed his ring of work keys, and started to file through them as quickly as he could, searching for the one to unlock the doors. But to no avail, as the eyes were coming closer and closer every second, every inch they got closer, his heart felt like it gave out a little more and more. He pounded on the glass doors, screaming for help. But being so alone and isolated, not a soul heard. But just then the alarm started to go off in the building. He was relieved for a moment; the alarm would send the police his way he thought to himself. But the alarm sound was deafening to his ears. He grabbed his ears in pain. The eyes coming much slower but still coming towards him all the same, the floor so dark, he still only saw the eyes, no figure attached. He scurried over to the alarm box and tried punching in his code to at least turn off the sound; his ears could barely take it. It was so high pitched, but he quickly gave up on that when he noticed the eyes were only a few feet away from him.  He pressed his back up against the glass window to the outside, trapped in a corner of the building. Tears running down his face from the fear, the eyes being so close, his heart starting to fade slower and slower. “What do you want?” he mumbled out in sobs, “Why me?”

He could tell the eyes were still coming towards him, just much slower now, he turned to face the glass, pressing his face up against it and pounded on it, everything going mind numbingly silent in his head. It almost seemed it was all in slow motion now, his life started to flash before his eyes. He saw his beautiful wife Kate smiling at him, all of their memories they had shared over the years. The first time he met her, their first kiss, the first time he ever told her he loved her, their wedding day, one of the best of his life. He thought of his family and friends that he barely kept in contact with, all of the wasted time he never used to be with them. His parent being so old now, that he hardly swung by to say hello in the past ten years. He thought of all of the pets he had over his lifetime and how precious they were to him. He had many regrets in a single moment, but not regrets of not making enough money, or any regrets of what stuff he had at home. But regrets of all of the extra weekends he took on, all of the time not spent being with loved ones. He had spent more time in that building than he did with his wife. Not getting a new job and moving forward with his life, and enjoying life as it was meant to be enjoyed. His biggest regret was wasting all of that time. He pounded away on the glass more and more, he was on his knees now losing energy. He looked up to the bright full moon outside and the trees swaying in the wind, tears rolling down his face. As his heart started to grow fainter and fainter, he whispered “Kate I love you”. Everything came back at once as he turned around, the alarm louder than ever, he was face to face to with the eyes, hardly any life left in him, as the eyes disappeared as did his life.

She stopped hugging her mom for a brief second, “I just don’t know why these things happen to us, we’ve always had the worst luck”, she said as she wiped tears from her face. “Oh Kate” said her mom also wiping tears from her daughter’s eyes “He can still bounce back, it was only a second story window”. “I hope you are right, I just wish he would’ve listened to me long ago, I told him working alone wasn’t a good idea at his age”. Then the heart monitor hooked up to the man started going flat. The sound was deafening to the ears. Nurses rushed in and a doctor, as they tried to revive him. She screamed out in agony as her husband lay lifeless on the bed. “MAX!” she screamed, her mother holding her back. “No god, please no!” she fell to her knees as everything fell apart all at once, she looked up to the heart monitor, tears rolling down her bright red cheeks, through her teary eyed vision, she saw a green and a red light on the bottom of the monitor , and they just went out.

Recommened Song and Movie of the Week

Recommended Song

Rotting In Vain- Korn--Korn has been on fire with this one.It has been topping charts. It sounds great, Korn is going back to basics. The sound is very old school Korn, and we the people are loving it. Their new album, "The Serenity of Suffering", drops on October 21st. I am pumped, I will be buying it most definitely.

Stake Land(2010)- The Movie this week is a small yet huge vampire movie. It may have a lower budget, and less known actors, but Stake Land delivers. It's a post apocalyptic vampire movie. Almost a combination of vampires and zombies. The vampires aren't remotely human, they are full blown monsters killing everything and it's awesome. The actors all do a phenomenal job, it's a very dark movie. But I think it's kick ass. If you like vampires, you'll want to see this one.

DIY Tentacle Props

So if you’re a haunter or Halloween enthusiast, and you’ve been waiting for me to post me something related to that well this might be your lucky day. I apologize it took so long, there was just things I needed to get off my chest first on here. But in this post I will show you the steps I took to make my own tentacle props. To buy one from the store can cost a ton of money, trust me I’ve looked. But this is a cost effective way to make them. I can’t take all of the credit; I’ve gathered knowledge from a few different people’s techniques and put my own spin on it. I also apologize that I did not take pictures as I went through the steps. When I made them, I had no clue I was going to do this post. But here you go, hopefully you like what you see.

What you will need:
PVC pipe-the size is up to you, depending how big you want your tentacle(s) to be.

Fiber Fill- You can get a big bag of this at a craft store or Wal-Mart for around $10.

Saran Wrap- I always got a roll for $8 from somewhere like Wal-Mart or Lowes. When it’s in a roll form, it’s much easier to do this project.

Liquid Latex- If you are only doing a few of these you can get a small thing of liquid latex. Since I dabble in a few projects and I did a bunch of these, I got a gallon of Monster Makers Liquid Latex off of Amazon.com for around $60 I think it was.

Acrylic Paints- The colors are up to you. I use red, black, and white.

PVC pipe insulators- These will be found in the hardware store where you get the PVC pipes themselves. They are long black fittings designed to fit over the PVC pipe, but that isn’t what they will be used for here. These will be your suction cups, I get three different sizes, to try and make the tentacle slightly more realistic. Here is a random site to show you what they look like. http://www.supplyhouse.com/K-Flex-6RXL048058-5-8-Pipe-OD-x-1-2-Wall-Insul-Lock-Pipe-Insulation-6?gclid=CjwKEAjwmf6-BRDi9fSN7Ijt1wUSJAASawcj5HN6TzOqkD4YSyGWMBjWEqE7rzPTJGOASbyl9N8uGRoCAWTw_wcB

Heat gun- Before I acquired a heat gun, I used a blow dryer to melt the saran wrap. But a heat gun is a better and easier choice.

Step One-
Take your PVC pipe and cover it with fiber fill. You want to then take the saran wrap and seal in the fiber fill over the PVC pipe. The saran wrap will give the tentacle life like skin texture. The fiber fill will be the insides of the tentacle. This part can be tricky, you need to hold the fiber fill over the PVC pipe and wrap at the same time. At the tip of the tentacle I go off the PVC and make a triangle shape with the fiber fill, and then wrap it tight, that gives it a tipped point like an actual tentacle is. On the other end I leave a few inches of PVC showing, so I can connect them all together at the end or possibly build a full octopus creature one day with them. That part is up to you I suppose.

Step Two- I take the liquid latex and do one thin coat on each side. This can be time consuming, because you have to wait for the first side to dry, then flip it over and do the other side and wait for it to dry. I like to do this, so it holds it all together and seals it before you apply the paint.

Step Three- Take your choice of paint for the base of your tentacle and apply that. Again with the tentacle being the shape it is, you’ll probably have to do one side then the other after it dries. I took red paint and mixed it with a tiny bit of black, to make a darker maroon color for mine. I use acrylic because its water proof and you never know when stuff like this can get wet.

Step Four- This is a good step to do while you’re waiting for the paint to dry, take the pipe insulators and cut them into small circles. Like I said I got 3 different sizes, I cut about 20 of each size per tentacle. I made them about 1.5 inches thick.

Step Five- After the paint dried, I took a hot glue gun, and glued the suction cup pipe insulators onto the tentacle. I started near the top with the smallest ones and did rows of two, all the way down, putting the biggest on the bottom. I used hot glue which kind of melts them a little bit, so if you have a better adhesive, go for it.

Step Six- Once the suction cups are stuck on pretty good. I took white paint and painted them.

Step Seven- I then took the saran wrap again and wrapped a thin layer over the entire suction cups sections.

Step Eight- I took the heat gun and melted down the front area of the saran wrap over the suction cups. This gives it a slimy look.

Step Nine- Take your paint of choice and re paint over the back part to cover the new layer of saran wrap.

Step Ten- I then applied one more layer of liquid latex over the entire thing to seal it all in and it also adds to the slimy factor look of the newest layer of saran wrap.

Well there you have it, all of the steps to make some awesome tentacle props. They work perfect for a pirate scene. Or maybe a science lab experiment. Whatever you want is up to you. We plan on having a pirate themed room in our haunt, and having the room look like you are on a ship, and have the tentacles coming up over the railing to look like a sea monster attacking. One day I might try to attach them to a bigger octopus or kraken like monster. But I’ll have to see if I can pull that off. Any way hope you enjoy. If you have any questions sound off in the comments!

All Hunting Is Bad? Now That's A Misconception

I’m not usually one to raise my fist at people who hate on hunting, but lately I’ve been thinking about how stupid this really is if you eat any meat from a store. Now I’m not talking about trophy hunting, I absolutely do not condone trophy hunting. If you’re killing a lion just to put on your wall, you should feel disgusting, because you are. Regardless of the people who are like “Well ya know the money from that hunt is going to feed a small village”, I say bullshit. Even if that was true, who gives the right that if the hunter pays a lump sum of money, he gets to kill an animal for nothing but fun. Pretty sure the lion didn’t sign up for that, and if the hunter wanted to help the village that bad, he could just give the money straight to them. Just remember one day when you're talking to your great grand kids and you can only show them pictures of what a lion is, or an elephant, or a rhinoceros, because humans wiped them all out for absolutely no reason at all, what that’ll feel like. Whether you want to agree or not, and I see this argument a lot online, animals ARE just as important as humans. For some reason humans seem to think they are above everything, when half of them aren’t any more valuable than a cockroach. Any who I didn’t make this one to condemn trophy hunting, but to inform people about real hunters, the ones who hunt for food.

If you don’t like any hunting in general, that’s fine. I don’t really hunt that much either. In fact I hadn’t hunted in years, but this past spring, I decided to go out turkey hunting a few times with my dad. I come from a family of hunters, so I do feel confident that my opinion is somewhat valid here. You don’t have to like something, but that doesn’t mean you have to hate everything about it, or not understand it. For example I don’t watch any sports really. But that doesn’t mean I hate them, and can’t see why others do like it. I don’t go out and hate on people who like different things than me, just because it’s not my cup of tea. Unless you are a vegetarian, or a vegan, there’s a good chance you might be a giant hypocrite. If you think hunting for food is wrong, just think where that meat comes from that you buy from a store or eat at a restaurant.  It’s very far from natural, and those animals were probably treated worse than you could possibly imagine. Now if you know the meat you buy is local, or you raise your own, that's a different story. I know talking about this is like talking about your parents having sex; we like to believe it’s not real. But the fact is it is real. I’m no saint, I buy meat from the grocery store, I go to restaurants, I eat fast food. But the difference is I’m not ignorant to it. Does that make it better? Not really, but at the very least I don’t hate on guys who have the determination to go out and kill their food the most natural way.

One thing you should remember is humans are natural born predators. There’s a reason certain meats are good for us, because we were meant to eat it. It’s called the circle of life, you don’t get angry when a fox kills a baby rabbit and maybe even toys with it before killing it, do you? It’s a sad sight to watch, but it’s a part of life. A good respectable law abiding hunter, goes by morals at least. A hunter isn’t allowed to just kill anything anytime of the year. There are certain times of the year for hunting certain things. For example deer hunting is in the fall/early winter, then there’s spring turkey hunting that starts in May. Honestly I couldn’t tell you every season’s animals, because there’s a time for rabbit, duck, squirrel etc. I just haven’t researched when they are. But there definitely are nasty hunters who will indeed just shoot anything when they go out no matter when, and no they don’t deserve the same respect. There’s a reason we have a DEC (Department of Environmental Conservation), and there’s a reason that there are a certain amount of tags given out to hunters, to keep tabs and control the amount of animals being hauled in each year and be aware of how many is too many. Now I’m talking NY State with the laws I’m talking about, I’m sure it’s very similar in other places, but your state could differ.  Unfortunately there is also a thing called population control as well. I wish we had this for stupid people, but unfortunately it’s only for animals. If there is a surplus of a certain animal, and it’s affecting the population of other animals, they have to be removed. Maybe I don’t totally understand it, but I kind of have mixed feelings about it. I don’t see why humans need to interfere with this, but it’s probably due to humans screwing things up in the first place. We now have to control the ecosystem I guess.  But like I said not really something I’ve looked into.

Also I have seen people say before that only poor people hunt because they can’t afford to just buy food, and that it’s sad. THIS has to be one of the biggest misconceptions. It is a very expensive sport if you are doing it right. You have to think, to buy all of your licenses, all of the gear to wear, and just the weapon of choice in general, it’s very high in price. A standard 12 gauge shotgun can run up to $300 alone (can definitely be more too). Not to mention the ammo, the stocks and barrels, scopes, and all sorts of additions and upgrades you can add to your gun. I know from experience the gear isn’t cheap, I spent nearly $100 on some camouflage gear this past spring; just the hat was $17! Go into any store that sells this type of gear, and tell me it isn’t expensive.  You may not agree with guns, even though that’s a whole separate issue; however this is their best purpose. I know people are like “Well if you’re so tough you gotta shoot an animal, go out there with your bare hands and kill it”, but why? We are more evolved than other species for a reason; we rely on our brains and intelligence. This is how a human hunts, back in the day maybe they didn’t have guns, but I can assure you there’s a 99% chance they weren’t using their hands. Maybe a variation of a bow and arrow, or a spear, either way same idea, a weapon made to hunt with.

I’m glad I was introduced to hunting as a kid, because it’s a skill set, and it feels like a natural one. In NY State at least, you are required to take a gun safety course to be able to legally gun hunt, and a bow course to legally bow hunt. I did the gun one long ago, but it’s some handy basic gun knowledge people should know. I know, again, regardless of your views on guns, you should learn how to use one. In the movies they like to make it seem easy  that anyone can just pick up a gun, and use it and have great aim. As someone who’s missed turkeys right in front of him, it’s harder than you think. Especially with a shotgun, not a hand gun, because let me tell you, they can kick hard and it can hurt. My dad had this old ass shotgun when my brother and I were kids, that he had both of us shoot for our first time ever shooting a gun. The older ones kicked a lot harder than the new ones, and that is no joke, it swelled up my shoulder, and I had tears in my eyes afterwards. But the good part is it made every other gun after seem a lot less painful, and I know that’s why he did it. There’s an adrenaline rush when shooting a gun, you’re in the silent woods, and you just have your finger on the trigger. You’re waiting for that huge blast, you can practically hear your heart beating, and it’s pretty intense. There may very well be a day when you need to use a gun, whether you want to or not. This world can’t be trusted; if I were you I’d at least learn the basics. Not like you need to train rigorously day in and day out, just enough to know how to load, unload, aim and shoot.

I know some people don’t have an issue with hunting, they just don’t like the thought of killing an animal themselves, and I can respect that. I get that, I wish I could quote the guy who said it, but unfortunately I don’t have the information now, but on Facebook awhile back, my brother shared an article from a hunter. He said you should never be celebrating a kill and cheering. You should be happy you got the kill and that you’ll be feeding yourself and your family, but almost a tiny bit of regret. I love that idea; you should be more grateful than happy when you get something. I’m not saying you should cry every time you get a kill, but just think about the fact you took an animals life to feed yourself. That should be more appreciated than celebrated. I said I hate trophy hunting, and I do. But if you mount an animal you killed and consumed on your wall as a way to commemorate the experience I don’t think that’s a bad thing (I’m sure some don’t agree). It’s hard to explain how a real hunter feels about the wilderness and the animals that inhabit it (not that I am one), but my dad and brother for example (biggest hunters I know) there’s a certain connection they have with it. I can see it, but I know anti-hunters just want to think people who hunt are psychopathic killers who kill everything for pleasure. It’s the farthest from the truth.

It also takes an incredible amount of endurance mentally and physically to go out hunting. Think about this, for deer hunting in the fall, you get up at 4 A.M., put on all that heavy gear, lug around a heavy gun on your shoulder(or bow), and go out into the pitch black woods. You find and locate your tree stand (another item of expense); you climb it with all that crap on. For months before this, you have been scoping out where would be the best place, setting up trail cams (ANOTHER item of expense), constantly going out in the woods and searching. It’s about 30 degrees outside; even your gear can’t keep you completely warm. You wait for something to come about. Sure the woods are peaceful; you get to listen to the birds, watch the squirrels, and see the forest come to life as day light approaches. Six hours go by and you’ve seen nothing, you go home, grab a bite to eat, and go back out for five more hours. Again you see nothing, you go home by dark, and do it again the next four weekends.  The whole season you never saw anything. That happens to guys all the time, think about that. All of that work and money spent for a wasted season. But yet these guys get shown no respect from someone eating a big mac every day from a cow who never moved two feet in its life, was just pumped full of garbage and slaughtered. I had a conversation with someone a few years ago about this, and she loved eating out, going to fast food joints, and stuff like that. She was saying how she hated hunting, how mean it is to kill a poor animal. But yet when I brought up if she knew where that meat came from at McDonalds, she got legit mad at me. The ignorance was strong here, how can you just blatantly ignore the fact that that meat was in fact an animal! Just because you took no part in the killing process, you are taking part in the eating process. The animal in the wild has a chance, it’s survival of the fittest for them, with or without humans, because other animals will prey as well.

Well I’ve preached about all I can, if you still think it’s disgusting to hunt for food and yet you eat meat from somewhere else; there really is no way to describe you other than an ignorant fool honestly. Sorry for the honesty but use your head, think about what you’re saying. If you choose to live blissfully ignorant, I guess that’s your choice. But have you ever tasted venison? God damn it’s so good. Any who if you are going out hunting soon in a few weeks, just be careful. Remember to always have your phone on you if you are alone, and to wear the proper camo depending on the season. Obviously know how to properly use your gun or bow, and get the right tags, and only shoot what you are supposed to! I most likely won’t be, because well I hate the cold. Plus since I gave my dad and brother all these props here, hopefully I can get some free venison. ;)
