In the Face of Fear....Rise above

As with a good majority of the country right now, I too am sad. Not just sad but afraid, yes I am truly afraid for our future as a country. I have seen every type of person, from rich to poor, from man to woman, from Christian to Atheist, from black to white who equally feels this way. It’s scary to know a TV personality with no political experience, who is openly disgusting to everyone from women to disabled people is at the forefront of our country. But despite all of this, there is one thing we can still do. We can be kind, happy, and preserve through this together. Yes, I said together, so many are scared right now, and I think the one thing people could use is love and compassion from others who feel the same. I mean what better time to do this then around the holidays. Many will go hungry this Thanksgiving; many will go with no gifts or Christmas dinner this holiday season. In this time of despair try to think of the less fortunate. If we let fear consume us as it already is, that will be our first mistake. That is how they will gain control, we mustn’t fear, and we can’t hate like so many already do. I have already seen so many supporters of him (and no not all) be rude and unkind in the face of others who are genuinely fearful. But why? If you truly believe in this man then why be disgusting, show us that we don’t need to fear what’s coming. That you aren’t a hateful person, who voted for him because you hate others who are different than you. I know trump supporters who aren’t this way. But sadly, too many are.

Go out into the world with your head held high, show them you aren’t backing down. We have progressed a lot in the nation recently and this could be a step back, but only if you let it be. Don’t. Rise and unite, we don’t need riots and wars to show distaste in this event. We truly need simple compassion for one another.  Be strong for our children and future generations. Go out and do simple small kind things for ANYONE, not a single group of people. Even if you have complete opposite political agendas, show them that’s okay. That is doesn’t define them, and it doesn’t define us. We have to take the reins here in this new world, and I don’t know about you, but I would like them to lead us to a happier place. We may be the under dogs now, but killing with kindness is never a bad thing. Being spiteful will lead us nowhere, be the best person you can be. Hold doors for others, put your shopping cart back after your done with it, say “How are you?” and “Have a good day” to others, these simple small minded tasks mean more than you think. Just simply remember this isn’t the end. We don’t have to let our progress slip, it may be put on hold for now, but we the citizens can progress ourselves still every day, there’s too much fighting on social media. But I just encourage you to stop, think about what it’s solving. You aren’t going to change another’s mind about politics, it just isn’t going to happen. It’s great to have an opinion, we all do. But before the internet, we all didn’t need to know each other’s. I truly look at some people different after this election, and that’s sad. We shouldn’t be showing the worst side of ourselves online, just because we can, because it’s the internet and it’s okay to “offend” people. It isn’t. Everywhere you put yourself in front of others, just try to be the absolute best you know how to be. I know for some this won’t happen. But for the rest of us, in front of those people, shine bright my friends. People can have as much power as they want, but in the end, we are all humans, and no one is more important than another. In the coming weeks, months, and maybe years this hate and fear is going to control people, and you won’t like what they do with it, so please help stop it now by not letting it consume you.
