Top 2017 Movies

2016 is just about to end, and as with every new year, the next one brings us tons of new movies. Now-a-days there’s practically new movies out every single weekend. But I’ve picked what I think to be the top ones coming out and worth seeing in theaters. Will I get to see them all in theaters? Absolutely not, it would cost me my savings with the prices these days. But rather than put them in an order of worst to best, I just put them in an order from their release dates. I'm sure some release dates will change, and I'm sure there's some movies I've missed.

Underworld: Blood Wars

Release Date- January 6th

I love all the Underworld films, always have. I know Twilight put a bad taste in people’s mouths about werewolves and vampires fighting. But trust me, Underworld is the version you want.

The Bye Bye Man

Release Date- January 13th

It seems we might be getting some good horror movies in 2017. Starting with this movie, and what looks to be pretty creepy. I’m a big horror fan, so expect some more on this list.

XXX  3: The Return of Xander Cage

               Release Date- January 20th

I was surprised to see this series making a comeback. It’s been some time since we’ve seen the 2nd Triple X, which wasn’t that great with Ice Cube. But seeing Vin Diesal back, makes it exciting!

Split

    Release Date- January 20th

This looks to be awesomely terrifying, and I hope it lives up to it's trailer. Even if the director has done some questionable movies lately.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

               Release Date- January 27th

I can admit the last two movies weren’t the best of the Resident Evil series. But I’m hoping since this is the last installment, they blow us away with a really good one.

A Dog’s Purpose

               Release Date- January 27th

I don’t know if I personally would want to see this in theaters, just because it looks like it’ll be sad. It looks really good, and I will definitely see it at some point.

Rings

Release Date-February 3rd

Like I said I love horror movies, and this is another series it’s great to see make a comeback. After re-watching the last two as an adult, I can say they weren’t as scary as I remembered as a kid, so hopefully this one is intensely creepy.

The Great Wall

               Release Date- February 17th

This is one of those films I personally think looks really good, but I have a feeling it may flop. Only because the whole white washing thing people let get in their way of judgment as a film. When in reality it isn’t like they are trying to pass off Matt Damon as a Chinese person.

Logan

               Release Date- March 3rd

This one looks like a sad but badass final Wolverine film. Well the last time we’ll see Hugh Jackman as him anyway.

Kong: Skull Island

               Release Date- March 10th

I’m super stoked for this one! We finally get to see the new King Kong, that Godzilla will be battling eventually. He looks bigger and badder than ever.

Beauty and the Beast

               Release Date- March 17th

I think Disney has been doing a great job with remaking their animated films into live action movies. Even though they don’t offer much new content to the stories, it’s still really cool to see.

The Belko Experiment

               Release Date- March 17th

This looks like a very new kind of movie, something we’ve never seen before. Which to me makes it exciting, I think the marketing has been great so far for this one.

Power Rangers

               Release Date- March 24th

I’m honestly only mildly excited about this one, I mean it looks cool. But I also never really watched the old shows. I probably will pass on seeing it in theaters.

Ghost in the Shell

               Release Date- March 31st

Really all you need to know about this one, is Scarlett Johansson being a badass. That’s enough for me! But no really it does look strange, and awesome all at the same time.

Fate of the Furious

               Release Date- April 14th

I’m already annoyed at people for bashing this one based on the trailer, yes, we get it, they made Dom a bad guy. But do you know why? Me either! Because I’m sure there’s a reason for it, you have to watch the movie to see.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

               Release Date- May 2nd

This one looks pretty creepy, and I like that!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

               Release Date- May 5th

If I did make a list of the top ones, this one may be number one! I’ve been waiting for this since the first one came out.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales

               Release Date- May 26th

I was surprised to hear about this one, I didn’t know until this past year they were making a comeback. But I am 100% okay with that, I love these films. Although the 4th one was a tad lackluster.

Wonder Woman

               Release Date- June 2nd

I think most people are excited for this, just because the fact it’s our first super hero flick with a lead woman. Shame on Marvel for not doing this first. I’m a little concerned because well DC’s new universe has been questionable so far.

The Mummy

               Release Date- June 9th

So after doing some research, apparently this isn’t connected to the Brendan Frasier series? I’m reading it’s the start of a new shared universe for the classic monster movies, and this one is obviously based on the classic, “The Mummy”.

Transformers: The Last Knight

               Release Date- June 23rd

I know Transformers has been kind of weird after they took Shia out, but hey they’re still pretty fun movies. If Bumble Bee dies though we riot!

Despicable Me 3

               Release Date- June 30th

I’m hoping these guys don’t take the whole Despicable Me/Minions thing t far. Hopefully this one is still funny and not just a cash cow.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Release Date- July 7th

I was already excited for this one, but now I am twice as excited. I can’t wait to see Tom Holland get his own film, he’s going to nail it, and the Vulture looks sick as well.

War for the Planet of the Apes

               Release Date- July 7th

These films have surprisingly become some of my favorites over the past few years. The last two were exceptionally awesome, and they keep getting better.

IT

               Release Date- September 8th

I know we are in an age of remakes, and some people just hate that. But be honest the original IT could’ve been so much better. I love the whole scary clowns thing, and I think they could make this really awesome this day in age.

Friday the 13th

               Release Date- October 13th

I don’t know much about this revamp, but I’m a huge Jason Voorhees fan. I will be judging! But hopefully they nail it.

Insidious: Chapter 4

               Release Date- October 20th

I thought the 3rd one was actually pretty good, I was never a huge fan of the first one. They kind of get better as they go in my mind.

Saw: Legacy

               Release Date- October 27th

I’m one of those who loved every Saw movie, the way they wrapped up the end was brilliant. I hope they don’t tarnish any of it with this film.

Thor: Ragnarok

               Release Date- November 3rd

The first two are arguably the weaker of the MCU movies, but I have good feelings about this one. For one we get the Hulk mixed in.

Justice League

               Release Date- November 17th

In theory, a Justice League movie sounds amazing. But let’s be honest, the DCEU hasn’t done the best job building these characters up. It will be interesting if they can really pull off the blockbuster that this should be.

Jumanji

               Release Date- December 22nd

I have bad feeling how this one will do, just because people think it tarnishes Robin Williams legacy or something. Don’t get me wrong, loved the guy. But this is based on a book, and it can be seen as a sequel, not a remake. Anyone can play the game! And it’s the Rock, c’mon now.

Top 25 Christmas Movies

With Christmas coming right up, I thought I’d give a relatively short list compared to how many Christmas movies there are out there, of the top twenty-five best in my opinion. Sure, some are classics you’ve been watching for years, but others you may have been missing out on. It was extremely difficult putting these in an order after the top three. I should also say that “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is in fact one of my favorite movies, but I consider it a Halloween movie, sorry not sorry. But here it goes, hopefully you discover something new.

25. The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause

I know this movie wasn’t as popular as its predecessors. But I do enjoy seeing Tim Allen put on the coat and become Santa once again. Martin Short is always great, regardless of the writing and story. I also like how we get to see what Scott Calvin’s life and the people around him would be like if he never became Santa.

24. Jingle All the Way

This may be one of those movies, you haven’t seen. It’s worth the time, because well it’s just some good fun. Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger do a family holiday movie, over an action flick is quite comical in itself. I grew up watching this one, even though I realize as I get older how dumb and how much bad acting some of it is, I’ll still always pop it in.

23. Black X-Mas (1974)

I have yet to watch the remake yet of this, but I just recently saw this one, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a great classic slasher film. The killer is also as scary as they come in my opinion. “IT’S JUST ME BILLY!”. All right around the Christmas season.

22.  White Christmas

This classic dates all the way back to 1954. I was first introduced to it by my grandparents when I was younger, who adore this film. Bing Crosby is pretty great, and there’s a lot of feel good songs in it. But it’s also only “Christmasy” in the beginning and end. Kind of like “It’s a Wonderful Life”. But to me this one has much slower parts, and sometimes makes me sleepy. Overall a good movie, and a sweet ending.

21. Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

I know I can be chastised for this, but I’ve actually never seen the great original “Miracle on 34th Street” from 1947. But I have seen this one quite a few times. It’s a good segue movie from Thanksgiving to the holiday season. I won’t lie it can be slow at times though, but it’s full of smiles.

20.  The Muppet’s Christmas Carol

Being the first of the two Christmas Carol movies on my list. The Muppets version has become a classic over the years. The musical numbers are actually pretty catchy, and the Muppets can always have some fun with their movies.

19. The Polar Express

This movie came out when I was a little older, so I could see if I grew up with it all my life, it being much higher on the list. The animation is amazing for its time. But honestly some of the character’s choices are just plain dumb, like when the main boy goes to give the girl back her ticket and he feels he needs to walk outside to the other part of the train to do it, rather than just wait for them to come back. Makes zero sense. Also, that kid Billy just makes me mad, I just find him incredibly annoying. But overall I like the ending, and how it’s main message is to believe.

18. A Christmas Story
If my blog were more popular, I’m sure this would be an outrage I have this so low on my list. But honestly, I only really started watching this movie yearly a few years ago. Maybe if I had grown up with it, it’d be different. But even though it has a few laughs, and it’s entertaining, there really isn’t much of a message it sends for a Christmas movie. I mean Ralphie is kind of a brat, who gets his way in the end, when you really think about it.

17. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
It’s silly, it’s almost pointless, but it’s always funny. There really isn’t a plot to this movie, other than a family getting along, but Chevy Chase is great in it, and I will always have it in my collection.

16. Disney’s A Christmas Carol

Some may not be a fan of Jim Carey, but I think he’s usually fantastic. I enjoyed him as Ebenezer Scrooge in this. It bothers me so many parents get mad this movie is “to scary” for little ones. When it’s literally the closest adaptation there has been yet, and it’s a film about ghosts! What did you expect? The animation is absolutely amazing as well. I also have to mention it was a tie between this version of the Christmas Carol and the Mickey one, because that one too I will always love.

15. The Santa Clause 2

Although this movie is very different from the first in my opinion, it’s still a good film in its own right. The first one has a much more serious tone at times, but this one has the Easter bunny and a Hitler man-toy Santa as the villain. So yeah, it’s a little different, but it’s funny, and seeing the original cast back is great.

14. Home Alone 2: Lost In New York

Well it isn’t near the top five on the list like the first one, but hey it still makes the list. Home Alone 2 is still a pretty great movie. Farfetched? Of course. But it’s always fun watching Kevin destroy the Wet Bandits.

13. Jack Frost

I just finished this one up again. I won’t lie, it is a sad one. It’s about the death of the father of the family, and how he returns as a snowman a year later. As silly as that sounds, it’s actually got a lot of heart to it.

12. Prancer

My girlfriend would not agree with this movie on the list at all, but hey it’s a damn good film. It’s such a simple little movie, with strong emotions. The main character of Jessica Riggs, has such a unique persona, she’ll keep you entertained the entire time. Although it’s about the reindeer Prancer being lost, there’s also a much deeper plot, with the bond between father and daughter. Check this one out if you haven’t seen it. The last scene always gets me.

11. Frosty the Snowman

It may just be a short little movie, but it's a classic through and through! You could realistically watch all the classics in one sitting if you wanted. But they will live on forever right?

10. Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon)

Although it’s only 20 minutes long, everyone needs this little tale around the holidays. It will never get old, I’ve seen it twice this year already.

9. The Year Without a Santa Claus

Yet another classic little movie, this one would probably be in the top five if you were my mom. I love the Miser brothers and their songs, that’s always the best part.

8. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town

Another classic most will know about. Although it’s kind of an odd spin they made up, if you really think about it. It still will always be timeless. One of my favorite endings of a Christmas movie, is this one, when the mail guy talks about if everyone could give a piece of themselves, maybe there could be world peace. Check out the video.

7. Elf

This is a movie most either love or hate. I know some can’t stand Will Ferrell, and I agree he has some stupid movies. But this one is completely innocent, and man is it funny. Also one that will always make me laugh.

6. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Well clearly this is a holiday classic that I think everyone knows, young and old. But out of all the classics, I rated it the highest on my list, because it’s actually a good little movie about bullies.

5.  Krampus

You might hate that I put this movie this far up the list, but what can I say? I love this movie! That warm fuzzy feeling you get from other holiday movies, I get it with this one. After each member is taken, there’s just something rewarding about watching people who want to be ungrateful get punished, especially those girls.

4. The Santa Clause

If I had to choose my favorite Tim Allen movies, this might just be number one. Another film that goes back with me as far as I can remember. Also, a very new spin on the Santa Claus story.

3. Home Alone

This is one of those films I have been watching every Christmas since I can remember. I could
probably recite every line at this point. The two robbers are hilarious every year I watch it. I wish we got more films like this now-a-days.

2. Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carey)

When it comes to funny holiday movies, there isn’t another movie I can watch as many times as this one and still laugh just as hard every time. Nobody could’ve pulled off the Grinch role like Jim Carey did. I've seen some other lists of top holiday movies and some don't even have this on their list!? I don't see how you can hate the originality Ron Howard added to this movie, and the hilarious personality Jim Carey added to the Grinch character.

1. It’s a Wonderful Life

What will always be one of my all-time favorite movies ever, every year I save this one for Christmas eve. My entire family and so many others would probably agree with me putting this number one. If this weren’t just a holiday list, it’d still be in the top ten for sure. No movie has sent a more powerful message in its day, and so many have been influenced by it.

Recommended Song and Movie of the Week: Christmas Edition

Recommended Song

Since this is a special Christmas edition I thought for the song I'd choose the best band I know, in Hollywood Undead, with their Christmas song Christmas in Hollywood. It's just a funny Christmas tune they came up with years ago, and features their former lead singer Deuce. But check it out, it's pretty funny if you listen to the lyrics. Caution, there is very vulgar language.

Recommended Movie

For a Christmas movie I could recommend tons of good ones. But I'm going with 2015's Krampus. Now if you can't let loose a little, and have a little fun, then this movie isn't for you. I know over religious people hate the idea of Krampus. But look at it this way, he only comes if you are ungrateful, and this movie sends a perfectly clear message that we should be thankful for what we have and who we have. I watched the special features and it's amazing how it was made, there is hardly any CGI involved. It has an 80's movie vibe to it, kind of like Gremlins. It's not supposed to be scary, it's a horror comedy, and people who hate it, fail to realize that. I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie.

A Very Scary Christmas

I stretched out in front of the fireplace, the small light reflecting in my eyes.

It was late Christmas eve, and all was silent, there weren’t even any flies

My adoptive parents were snug in their bed

while I sat near the Christmas tree with treats dancing in my head

Snow flew outside as fast as the eye could see

And my eyes weren’t very fast, but it made me have to pee

So I walked outside into the dark snowy night

I’m usually quite calm but something just wasn’t right

I heard a strange noise and picked up my head

I looked all around, with fear and much dread

I ran back inside to make sure all was still safe, I looked into my parents room just to be sure

But they were still there, as I tried to be quiet when I creaked the big door

I went back downstairs in our small cozy house

I tried to just relax, it was probably just a mouse

This was my first real Christmas after all

So I walked around and started to toss around a ball

But then I heard the strange noise again, it must’ve been from the roof

This time I was sure, or they’d call me a goof

I crouched behind some presents under the tree

Surely if a monster came in, I’d be the last thing they’d see

I heard more footsteps and got scared

What if I couldn’t protect my parents, would they at least be spared?

I’ve heard of that creepy beast Krampus, no it couldn’t be him

Or could it? Everything was just so dim

The lights on the tree were all that was lighting the room now

As I heard something coming down the chimney as big as a cow

My heart started pounding, what could it be

I had to be ready, but I felt as small as a flea

I saw its shadow on the other side of the wall

This thing was quite big and had horns and all!

I covered my eyes, I was to scared to move

But I should protect my family, I had something to prove

I sat up and walked towards him, bravely facing this beast

But when I darted out, this wasn’t a beast in the least

Why it was a jolly old man, no horns at all

but presents, on his back, big and tall

he saw me and put his hand over his mouth

we needed to be quiet or things could go south

he smiled in his big red coat, and patted my head

I didn’t know what to say, I had no reason to of fled

This must be that Santa Claus fellow they spoke of

He seemed really nice and had given me love

He set some gifts out for my family and me

I couldn’t of been happier, oh golly gee

He patted my head once more, and gave me a treat

It was something that tasted an awful lot like meat

He had no fear I would bite

For I am just a dog trying to do this Christmas thing right

But in a blink of an eye, he was gone right away

I assumed he was back up in his sleigh

I ran to the window, and looked for his sight

As he dashed away, with a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Best WWE matches of 2016

In my opinion 2016 has been a pretty great year for WWE. The draft in July, has shaken things up, and has made things a lot better. Although there is still a a few weeks left of 2016, I thought it was a good time to reflect on the fifteen but since last night, now sixteen best matches of the year. These are matches you should definitely look up and watch if you’re a fan, the type of matches you’d show people if you wanted to show them what WWE is all about. Enjoy (this is all my opinion, not all will agree)

16. Royal Rumble match -WWE title on the line- Royal Rumble

I know some weren’t happy about the outcome with Triple H taking the rumble win, but it was also awesome to see him mix it up with some of the younger talent like Ambrose and Bray Wyatt. Plus, it was the second rumble ever where the title was on the line. I also really thought Roman Reigns would win, I’m not a Roman hater but I still don’t like predicting the outcome. I couldn't of been happier to see Lesnar get tossed out by the Wyatt's too.

15. Dean Ambrose Vs Chris Jericho- Asylum Match- Extreme Rules

I really enjoyed the rivalry between these two this past year, I am a big Ambrose fan. I thought this match was a great authentic classic hardcore match. We don’t get a lot of them now-a-days. But when Ambrose pulled out that bag of tacks, it brought me back to my childhood. I liked the idea of the asylum match, it showed the true crazy style of Ambrose.

14. Shield Triple Threat match-WWE Championship- Battleground

This match had to make the list just for the fact we had all been waiting years to see it. I loved the way they set it up in that one on one Dean wins over Seth, Roman wins over Dean, and Seth wins over Roman. They’re three of the biggest guys the new era has right now. It was also great this happened right before the brand split, so the winner took the title home to their brand, with Ambrose representing SmackDown Live and taking the win, the most underrated out of the three in my opinion.

13. Roman reigns vs AJ Styles- Extreme rules match -WWE championship- Extreme Rules

Say what you will about Roman Reigns, but this was a damn good match. The intensity was awesome in this match, these two beat the hell out of each other. That spot of Roman throwing AJ over his head from one announcers table to the other was awesome. And how many finishers they did to each other in this match. Plus, Rollins returned at the end!

12. Smack down vs Raw elimination tag team match-Survivor Series

I was looking forward to this match all the month prior, and it did not disappoint. There were so many good spots, from the mini shield reunion, that gut busting spear Roman delivered to Shane, or that amazing elbow from Shane to Braun through the announcers table. We can’t forget that sick RKO to Rollins coming off the frog splash. Plus, two of my favorites Orton and Bray taking the win for team SmackDown.

11. Charlotte vs Sasha vs Becky lynch- Women’s champion- WrestleMania 32

This match could’ve been higher on the list, I was just disappointed with the ending where Ric Flair had to intervene. This was a huge match for the women’s division. They took away that fugly Diva’s belt, and got the new prestigious Women’s title back. It was a great match all the same, despite the ending.

10.Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns-WWE championship – Money in the Bank

This was Seth Rollins first big return match since he came off injury. Remember he had to surrender the title due to his injury 6 months prior. Not only did he come back and kick Roman’s ass, and take his title back, but right after Dean cashed in the money in the bank he had won that night. It was sweet revenge for Dean, after all Seth had done to him. Plus, all three members of the shield held the title in the same night.

9. Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles-WWE Championship-TLC match- TLC

Well I had to change the whole list from fifteen to sixteen for this match. I just got through it and it was awesome! Even though Elsworth interfered, you can't take away all of the awesome moments in this match. That elbow through the announcer's tables, that amazing 450 splash through the table, and just the constant back and forth. These guys gave it their all.

8.Johnny Gargano Vs. Tommaso Ciampa- Cruiserweight Classic

These two guys are from NXT, they are in a tag team known as DIY. But in the CWC they had to face off to make it the next round. If you didn’t watch the CWC, you should, some of the best matches of the year for sure. This match was intense, and you felt their emotions, and after it was over, they are still a great tag team.

7.Charlotte vs Sasha- Women’s Champion- Hell in a cell match- Hell in a Cell

This match had to make the list just for the pure fact the history it made. I know it got kind of annoying they were saying that over and over. But for these two women to main event a PPV in a hell in a cell match was pretty cool. The rivalry between these two was one of the biggest of the year. Granted some of the spots were messed up in this match, but it was a good start for women becoming more hardcore.

6. T.J. Perkins vs. Gran Metalik (Cruiserweight Classic Final- Cruiserweight title)

There were so many amazing matches in the CWC, but the main event, the final two, Perkins and Metalik put it all on the line. Plus, with Triple H coming out and putting the new cruiserweight belt on the line, made it that much more exciting. I was rooting for Gran Metalik, but any of the guys in this competition who could’ve won would’ve earned it.

5. Kota Ibushi Vs. Cedric Alexander- Cruiserweight Classic

I ranked this higher than the main event of the CWC because man it was simply amazing. This match certainly made me a fan of Cedric, and I believe many others, judging how after he lost there was “please sign Cedric chants”. He’s a future champion for sure.

4.Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz- Career vs Intercontinental title- No Mercy

The feud between Dolph and Miz this year has reignited both of their careers. They put on plenty of great matches, but this one was just a classic. Everything was on the line including Dolph’s career, and honestly, I wasn’t sure he’d win. After how many times he gets screwed, it was awesome to see him keep coming back and get the win.
>

3. Sami Zayn Vs Kevin Owens- Battleground

If there was a countdown of the best feuds of 2016, this might just be number one. These guys had a lot of great matches, but this match was insane. It was such a good way to end their feud, with Sami taking the win, and putting Owens away the way he did.

2. DIY vs The Revival-2 out of 3 falls- NXT tag team titles- NXT Takeover Toronto

This was one of the greatest tag team matches I had seen in ages. I liked DIY before, but now I consider them one of the best. I’ve been waiting for The Revival to finally get knocked off, and there was no better team to do it. Every time you thought this one was over, it just kept coming back.

1.      John Cena vs AJ Styles- Summerslam

I honestly couldn’t decide what one of these was number one of the year for me. But this match could’ve been the main event of WrestleMania. Pun intended it was simply phenomenal. Seeing these two top guys finally have a real wrestling match, and AJ winning clean was great. He has had a great year as far as debuting in the rumble, beating Cena, and now being the champ. I have certainly become a fan of AJ, and if there’s a match you want to show someone to get them into WWE, let it be this one.

Honorable mentions-

Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg- Survivor Series

I have to mention this one at least, although it was only a minute thirty seconds. I loved every second of it, after we had to watch Lesnar squash every one he faced over and over again. It was finally refreshing to see Goldberg just come back and destroy him. I’ve watched that second spear over and over.

Fatal four way- Monday night Raw- Universal Championship- Owens vs Rollins vs Reigns vs Big Cass

Although this match wasn’t the best I have ever seen, it wasn’t too bad for a main event of Raw. But the best part was Triple H returning since WrestleMania and turning on Rollins finally. Then to watch Kevin Owens shoot to the top finally was also great.
