Recommended Band and Movie of the Week

Recommended Band

Instead of picking one song from these guys, I'm just going to recommend them as a band. The band is known as Avatar. I started hearing a few of their songs on Octane in the beginning of last year, and I was hooked. Then what made me even more of a fan was seeing them live at a festival. They are so weird and strange, it was awesome! Their songs are catchy, they go from hard rock to metal with the snap of a finger, you need to know Avatar.

Recommended Movie

The movie this week is going to go right along with the strange theme like the band, and that movie is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Directed by Tim Burton, and released in 2012, this film kicks ass. I'm surprised it has  lower score on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes because it's a good vampire film. It's based on a book with the same name, and as weird as it sounds, it's actually a decent movie. The special effects are pretty good, and if you're picturing some old president fighting vampires, well you'd be wrong. The story focuses on a young Abe Lincoln and his fight for humans against vampires. Eventually leading to his presidency.

WrestleMania Predictions

So, since I’ll be attending WrestleMania live this year, which is an amazing lifelong dream by the way, I figured some matches are coming together for the big show, and I’d take the wild guesses as to what we may just see. I’m not one of those fans who likes to go online and see what’s going to happen, and look into rumors, so these are my guesses alone. Not just guesses but fantasy booking as well, that I know may not happen

Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar

The only match we know for sure, is the one I’m least excited for and that is Oldberg vs cock lesnar. Now don’t get me wrong I do like Goldberg, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him destroy Lesnar again, but I have a big feeling that this is going to be for Raw’s big title the Universal Championship. The title Goldberg is probably going to take from Kevin Owens at Fastlane. Which is complete crap, two big old part timers.

Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho

Now this one is pretty obvious after Owens just beat the crap out of his best friend recently. The question is will it be for the U.S. championship or the Universal Championship? Or maybe both? Or maybe they will both cost each other the titles before we even get to mania. Either way this match is a long time in the making, and I’m not sure who I want to win.

Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton vs Luke Harper for the WWE Championship

I believe this next Smackdown Live we may just see Luke Harper winning this battle royal that sends him to WrestleMania to face his former master. But even though Randy Orton has said he isn’t going to face Bray, let’s be honest…it’s happening. He is going to turn on him eventually, even though it seems like a backfire plan since it will become a triple threat now. Plus, if Orton doesn’t go to Mania then that was an entire waste of the rumble. The only way it seems fitting is making the Wyatts face off in a triple threat. (I want to see it live!)

AJ Styles vs John Cena

Now I’m not totally sure on this one, but it kind of seems fitting. I mean these guys put on such amazing matches, that it seems logical to put them on the main stage. Plus, I can’t figure out what else these two will be doing at WrestleMania, and what better option than to put them against each other.

Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin for the Intercontinental Championship

I’m pretty sure this has been set up from the Elimination Chamber PPV, when they eliminated each other out of the match. Then the next Smackdown Baron beat the crap out of Dean. My prediction Baron wins his first title at WrestleMania, which sucks because Dean is awesome. If this doesn’t happen, then maybe they will do some sort of 7-man promotional ladder match for the belt like they have the past two years.

Undertaker vs Roman Reigns

I’m also not totally sure about this one, but it kind of makes sense. I mean Roman eliminated him out of the rumble. Otherwise what is Undertaker’s motivation to fight anyone. My prediction is at the Fastlane PPV, during the Braun vs Reigns match, the bell gongs, the lights go out, and Taker appears and takes out Roman, to set this up.

7-man ladder match for U.S. or Intercontinental Title

I am guessing that to put more of the mid to upper card guys in a match, they’ll do something like this, I would think more likely on raw since they have a bigger roster. My guess for U.S. title is Sami Zayn vs Braun Strowman vs Rusev vs Cesaro vs Sheamus vs Kofi Kingston vs Finn Balor (maybe that’s a stretch) The Intercontinental one would probably be Ambrose vs Corbin vs Ziggler vs The Miz vs Kalisto vs Apollo Crews vs Kane (Maybe)

Seth Rollins vs Triple H

This one is definitely happening unless that injury to Rollins turns out to be real. But I’m pretty sure it’s not. This has been building for a long time now. I also believe Samoa Joe is going to get involved on Triple H’s behalf as well. I can’t wait! Protégé versus Mentor!

Smackdown Women’s Championship-

Naomi vs. Becky Lynch vs Mickie James vs. Alexa Bliss

I’m not 100% sure yet what the lineup will be but Smackdown’s women division has been awesome lately. So, I would say maybe they’ll go with a fatal four way, as Naomi heading into her hometown as the champion.

Raw’s Women Championship

Charlotte vs Bayley

Unfortunately, I think this stupid crap is going to be at WrestleMania and Bayley will break Charlotte’s undefeated PPV winning streak. I can’t stand Bayley, I’m sure they’ll have Charlotte win back the title at Fastlane to further this storyline. Maybe they would make it a fatal 4 way with throwing in Sasha and Nia Jax.

Raw’s Tag Team Champions

The Club vs Enzo & Big Cass

I’m really hoping to see Enzo and Cass get their first big title shot at Mania and bring home the gold. They’ve been just kind of hanging around this past year and they’re due for a title shot.

Cruiserweight Championship match

Neville vs. Jack Gallagher vs Rich Swann vs TJ Perkins vs Brian Kendrick vs Gran Metalik

I’m just completely making this one up, but I’m guessing rather than a singles bout, they go for some time of 6 pac challenge with a bunch of cruiserweights. I don’t foresee as of right now two cruiserweights with enough momentum behind it for a WrestleMania matchup. Only Neville really holds up as a bigger name out of them in WWE.

Well those are my big predictions for WrestleMania 33! There’s also the Annual Andre The Giant Memorial battle royal we can look forward to. Plus, some of these matches may be in the kick off show. Maybe a Smackdown Tag Team Champions match. There’s also been talk of Big Show vs Shaq, but not totally sure if they’re really going to follow through with that. Either way I can’t wait for this, people don’t understand how amazing and how expensive it is to do this. I’ve gotten eye rolls, laughs, and confusion, and people just don’t understand how awesome this truly is.

Split Review (May Contain Spoilers)

I've noticed this movie has some pretty split reviews, (yes pun intended), but honestly, I liked it. Everyone is skeptical to walk into this one based on it being a film from M. Night Shyamalan (or as I call him M. Night Shlama lama) The guy who has brought us good films like “The Sixth Sense” and some really bad ones like “After Earth”, and well some more bad ones too, that has earned him a bad reputation. But I think he has made a good comeback with “Split”. “Split’s” plot is about a man named Kevin (James McAvoy) who has 23 distinct personalities. He has a mental disorder known as DID (Dissociative identity disorder) which is a real thing by the way. But the movie is about him reaching a 24th personality, known by his other personalities as the Beast. He kidnaps three young girls from the start of the movie almost immediately. The lead Kacey (Anya Taylor-Joy) does a pretty good job of playing the outcast character with a broken background, which connects her to Kevin more than the others. I liked how they gave her a background story throughout the film, so we actually cared about her by the end. The other two not so much, they were kind of the typical dumb teens we see in movies often. But the real star of the movie is James McAvoy, I’ve liked him in past films such as the newer X-men franchise as a young Professor X, or when he played Dr. Frankenstein in “Victor Frankenstein”.  But here he is on a whole new level, he changes his personalities from an old shrewd lady known as Patricia, to a funny nine-year-old kid named Hedwig, to a creepy dude named Dennis. He makes it much more believable than I thought it would be going into this.

For the people whining about being offended because it’s making fun of, or making mental disorder patients seem like bad people, give me a break. How many movies have made asylums and mental patient homes seem like a creepy hell? That’s like saying Michael Myers from “Halloween” or Jason Voorhees from “Friday the 13th” were horrible films because it showed us that a mental patient and a mentally handicap man, both went on killing sprees, for a very long time at that. I don’t see how “Split” is much different, it shows us what could be, which we all know ( at least anyone with a brain) is very farfetched, especially if you watch until the end when he becomes the beast, which is completely fictional. But it’s a movie! Sheesh who are these people who go in with a pen and paper and write down every flaw of a film? I mean yeah, I write reviews, but it’s just to inform people from a level-headed person when it comes to movies, if it’s worth a few hours of your time. We live in such a critic age now that we all have a way to voice our opinions online, that it ruins movies from the get go for people. Some people literally flip through the comments section on Facebook under a movie trailer to decide if they want to see it based others opinions. Sure, I’m a bit of a hypocrite because here I am with my review but hey if you go through the trouble of setting up a blog, then your point is more valid. I also never base my movie watching decisions on others, for example “The Purge” movies that I love, some hate, and I would have missed out on seeing them in theaters if I listened to them. And my answer is yes by the way, you should go see “Split”. Just to see James McAvoy’s awesome performance is worth it. There’s also a pretty big twist at the end that you may have to google afterwards, like I did, if you don’t get it. It is worth noting this really isn’t a horror film, yes, the end gets a bit creepy, but honestly, it’s more of a psychological thriller, which usually I’d say isn’t my first pick (Let’s be honest they can be boring, oh here comes the film snobs! “You obviously don’t know good films, since all you like is explosions and killing” Yes! Sue me, but if there’s no action, comedy, or killing in a movie it probably blows, I said PROBABALY, not always, jump down off your high horse, nobody cares) Now instead of illegally downloading movies, get up go out into the world, pay your way in and go see “Split”. Also a solid 8 out of 10.

Rings Review (May Contain Spoilers)

I’m kind of late with this one, because I saw it last weekend. But it’s a nice little horror film at the end of it all. The beginning starts off kind of weird, with the whole plane scene, but I guess it’s to set the mood. The whole movie sticks to what the first two were though, and that is a mystery type of movie. Which my girlfriend and I both liked, because we were guessing what was going on throughout the film. The lead characters led by Julia (Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz) and Holt (Alex Roe) were just okay if we’re being honest. Matilda was kind of “meh”, sometimes she seemed like she was overacting. I thought it was comical to see Johnny Galecki (Roseanne, Big Bang Theory) in a more serious role, then of course Vincent D’onofrio makes a random appearance as he does, and nails it. But overall, they get the job done. The special effects are obviously a lot better since it’s twelve years later. But I will admit there are slow parts, I almost dozed off a little half of the way into it. Giving Samara more of a backstory in this one, was pretty cool to see. I was wondering going in how much more they could really do with this, but they found a way. Throughout the film, it’s like they think we forgot about the first two though, making Samara out to be like she’s a just a victim and not a killer. But by the end it comes together. There really isn’t a lot of very scary scenes in this one that wasn’t already done in the first two, but we get a lot of jump scares of just random things like a dog barking out of nowhere. It’s hard for me to judge a “scary” movie based on the scare factor because honestly, I just don’t get scared of them (No this isn’t some masculine way of me covering up for being afraid, I just have seen so many horror movies, like all of them, that nothing gets to me). I would say a 6 out of 10 originally but right up until the end which was absolutely awesome in my opinion, I change it to a 7 out of 10. The ending is brilliant, and I’d love to see one more movie where Samara wreaks havoc on the world.

Recommended Song and Movie of the Week

I know its been a few weeks since I posted one of these, with school now and two jobs, I get lazy in my free time. But I've returned this week to recommend a brand new song from a brand new band. Their name is DED and the song is Anti-Everything. Now this is the only song I've heard from them, but man I love it. This would be a song that would describe me to a Tee. ANTI-EVERYTHING!!

For the movie this week I'm choosing a newer movie that came out last summer, known as Don't Breathe. I saw this in theaters, and was pretty pleased with it. It's about these three thieves who break into a blind man's home(Stephen Lang), but what they think will be an easy target, turns out to be a deadly game of cat and mouse. The tensions are high, and it'll have you on the edge of your seat.
